The back of kitchen utensils and gadgets may come off

The back battery cover clip has come loose and the battery is falling out. I had to glue it on. After that it works fine. This is the third I have bought in 20 years. Its alarm is definitely quieter, which is good if you're using it indoors, but it's hard to hear it outdoors. I wish the rear battery clip was more durable. That was the problem of the past. I was hoping they fixed it. This product works great for me (sealed with tape). I use it for roasting, baking, grilling and just as a…

Might be worth a test first.

I used this ice thermometer last year. You really need a high level of accuracy to pasteurize the mix properly, temperature versus time etc. So I spent the evening exploring the many other thermometers on Revain. After reading many sad stories about other makes and models that were inaccurate or broke after a single use, I decided to test my little inexpensive polder, ice bath is dead at 32°F, boiling water is dead at 212°F. I think at some point I won't have to "swap".

Excellent thermometer, very long life

This is my second thermometer with a polder probe. My first one still works great after many years. This year I had to cook 2 large turkeys so I have to order a second thermometer. I use Alton Brown's salted turkey recipe, so a thermometer with a probe that lets me get an accurate temperature reading is essential. With this polder model (and my old one) I can easily enter temperatures. Something has changed since I bought my old sensor. The end is not pointed, making it easier to penetrate the…

It would be a *perfect* thermometer, if only.

This would be an ideal thermometer if it had a reinforced/shielded thermocouple wire. I have used this thermometer carefully for grilling and it has worked great. until the wire slips off, stays in contact with the hot griddle and melts. I liked the fact that it showed both the timer and temperature at the same time, and the tilting display is a great feature too. Polder's credit is that they send me a new sensor for free (three years after purchase and due to my own error). Two thumbs up for…
