Not suitable. Chevy 1500

I bought this puller to replace the bipod and cocking arms on my Chevy Silverado 1500 98 2wd. It won't go on. The opening of the jaws was about 1/2 inch less. I bought a large puller and it said it was compatible but it wasn't. I could have used a 4 1/2" angle grinder to pry it open, but I left it alone and used a cucumber fork instead.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Damaged

Great Puller - Dodge Ram 2500 3rd Gen

Worked great to pull out the pitman arm for Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L Cummins 3rd Gen 3rd Gen. Hammer to sink it into the handle. To pull the connecting rod out, tighten the puller with an impact wrench to set tension, lightly hit the connecting rod shoulder with a mini sledgehammer, and then retighten. Repeat as needed, and he should resolve after one or two iterations of this technique.

The jaws were a bit wide.

My situation is very special, but on my Lamborghini Jalpa, when I was separating the front tie rods from the steering knuckle, I noticed that the silver "lips" or the part that holds the steering knuckle were a bit wider and hardly slipped on the joint. Luckily I managed to set the instrument on fire and clog the jaws a bit. The rest worked great! I usually wear safety goggles and cover my face when using any of these tools. The goggles stay put, but I felt comfortable enough with the build…

Money Invested In Steering And Suspension Tools

You can't appreciate a tool that works and saves you time and effort and this is one of those tools. I used mine on a 2000 Honda Civic and it worked flawlessly. I've changed quite a few tie rods and ball joints and before this puller I've always used a cucumber fork or an air hammer with a pickle fork attachment, but this puller is way better than the other options in every way. There wasn't the usual big and sudden snapping that happens when using a sole fork, it was a much easier disconnect…

  • Durable Finish
Cons

This item offers a very limited use.

not very useful, at least in my case. Instead, you'll need to buy a ball joint splitter (not a pickle fork, the pickle fork destroys the parts you're trying to separate). In my case, this tool was unusable due to the limited space, my machines are German and their technique is slightly different. A ball joint splitter lets you separate parts in just minutes with minimal effort. Btw the tie rods are under pressure, be very careful when separating these types of parts, if they fall apart they…
