No cutting action, wears out immediately

Cutting action 40 grit very bad. They may last a minute. They won't become smooth in a minute, but any cutting action will disappear immediately. After 5 minutes, the velcro is smoothed out, the disc simply flies off and no longer holds. I thought $7 for 25 discs would be okay, even if they're awful because I can just keep changing them, but I was wrong. Their main problem isn't that they wear out very quickly (which they do) but that these discs can't sand wood.

Problem with velcro.

I've had mixed results with my recent purchase of 60 grit PowerTec abrasive discs. Luckily about 75% of them worked properly. But some didn't hold up well on the grinder's velcro (and changing the velcro didn't help). Also, some discs left a lot of "wool" fibers in the Velcro that I had to clean with a brass brush. When I bought it a few months ago, there were no such problems. Hopefully velcro issues are limited to this last batch. Update October 2018 (a year later): I bought 80 grit for…

Worst sandpaper I've seen in 45+ years of woodworking

In my 45+ years of woodworking these sanding discs have proven to be the worst I've ever used. They last about 2 minutes before the grit wears away exposing the H&L base. I visited the Powertec website to learn more about their products. Their website claims they have the highest quality discs, so I called the manufacturer to give them my results; Maybe I had a defective batch and what they want to know about it. They didn't seem surprised to hear about my experiences and weren't interested in…

Poor Performance

I rarely read or write reviews, but this product was of such poor quality that I had to share it: if I could I wouldn't give any liability. It slips when sanding, which drastically reduces its sanding ability. The Velcro is of poor quality and keeps dropping the grinding wheel. I found this out the hard way when I used the first pad (60 grit), the pad flew to my blind side and I continued sanding with light, even pressure. The velcro pad (where the sanding disc attaches) on my sander did the…
