It's very rusty now. Otherwise

The metal rods come in different lengths and this stand got rusty after 2-3 uses (sometimes I sharpen knives). It's very rusty now. Otherwise, it's a whetstone stand that gets the job done.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Something different

Rusted after first use

Of course it holds stones and the rubber is quite sticky to the surface of the countertop but I didn't expect it to rust along the threads after a single use even though it had dried. Luckily after use only rust remained on the screws and I've been lubricating them ever since. It's still very tiring to maintain a tool that looks like it's rust-free and where the rust is preventing the screws from turning.

An embarrassing mistake: rusty nuts

Functionally this is a great part. Powerful, strong, works. The midfoot struggles to slide on the rails, but that can be a good thing. I have a complaint that seems like a major design oversight given the intended use of this item. The finger nuts used to tighten the tip of your stone rusted on the threads after being cleaned on the second use. Of course I can just take them off separately to dry, but for an item that is designed for use in the water and at first glance looks like it would be…

Great stone holder!

Not used much yet - Rubber doesn't even stink on me a bit and that's great. It is heavy and perfectly holds the table thanks to the rubber bottom. I spray it with wd40 from time to time to prevent rust. It will rust but under the nuts etc. but it's easy to wipe off. I use a rubber pet food mat to place on a rag/towel and this setup works great for me. Thanks to the pet food mat, everything stays on the countertop and thanks to the pet food mat, no mess either. Entry level knife sharpening with whetstone/waterstone

Holds whetstones. Easy to use and small. Accessible. it's good The ONLY issue I have is that the threads are prone to rust compared to the others. The contact areas between the rubber and the bars are also places where water can adhere more, which can leave small water stains/rust spots. BUT rust on threads doesn't really affect performance until it gets really bad, but I'm not there yet and have had this thing for over 3 years now. Just shake or wipe off the water and it will last a long time.

Excellent goods! PERFECT!

I very rarely admire a product! Thus, sharpening the stone holder is fantastic! Very well designed and made. This allows me to change different sizes and grits quickly and easily. I can switch from my 8X3 waterstones to 2X6 diamond inserts by turning the knurled adjustment knobs to the open position, take out the first stone, make quick adjustments to the new stone, and get back to work. The full stainless steel and rubber allows me to dip the holder and stone during installation, the rubber…

Sturdy and well built

Quality products always make a good first impression and this stone holder is a top product. Even before opening, my first impression of the packaging was, hmm. that's a good box! That's always a good sign, because quality products always come in nice boxes. After opening the box and pulling out the stone holder, I knew immediately that all the five star reviews were correct. It's durable, well built and attractive. The first stone I put in was my Chosera 1000. The rubber washer fitted the…

Buy without hesitation!

Should have bought it a long time ago. Holds your sharpening stone in place much better than I expected. Best of all, the stone is raised so high that you don't have to worry about dragging your knuckles across the table or countertop. However, if you use the technique, you probably shouldn't worry about it anyway. They are among the experts and if you are a beginner this should help you with your technique. Beginners Don't Give Up It took me six months to properly sharpen my knife. Start with…

You get what you pay for and this is good value for money.

Think the budget line, not the top ;) This device does it all, performs well and is built to last (if you know how to use it). All main stones emit abrasive particles when sharpened. More cheap than expensive. If you do not pay special attention to this device every time you sharpen it, rusting may occur. When finished, rinse under cold tap water, use ivory liquid to lightly clean (doesn't make black material sticky if post-cleaned like Don (sp?)), rinse well again, dry spray it with an air gun

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No performance

Best buy for sharpening!

I've never been good at hand sharpening, so I've decided to make learning how to sharpen well my new goal. I've bought some good diamond stones, a good polishing/finishing stone, a good sling and even a couple of practice knives but this has got to be the best purchase I've ever made. Even with the rubber mat, I was constantly chasing rocks across the countertop while sharpening. Not only does this thing have a great grip so it doesn't slip when I'm using it, it also lifts my bricks off the…
