CarZone said my ALT was bad as hell. Too high prices. Researched and found - My son installed it and I'm all smiles! It seems to be the solution. I will check if

the box was terribly battered and looked very used like no packaging of peanuts, airbags etc. They never cared about the looks or the safety of the generator wasn't the best. It came with a broken voltage regulator (can't connect it if you try). It was a bad experience. .

Took about 90 minutes to install using hand tools. You definitely want to go through the floor and temporarily move the air conditioning compressor. There is a great tutorial on tdiclub.com. I don't have hard cold starts anymore so I think my old one died out a long time ago.

I needed a new alternator for my 99 tdi Beetle. I saw this one and it had good reviews so I decided to give it a try and save $100-$150. He was right in the regular spot (which is a headache with these cars). So far this is working fine. My scanner reads a little over 14V when running.

I could not find the weather, watts, amps, requirements of my needed bugs anywhere, not even on the dealer's website. It would be great to add an 8mm yoke nut and two new alternator bolts to the kit. Otherwise it looks and works as advertised.

Arrived and ran fine for first few months then ran without power until engine RPM was above 2k as indicated by the battery light which stays on at start/idle and then goes out more than 2k rpm . Shortly thereafter (a few days) the output voltage started to change randomly and overheat. Also, the clutch pulley started making noise. You get what you pay for I guess.

I bought this viola. for my 2000 VW BEETLE GLX, it arrived on time and was well packaged, it had a blank computer showing it was properly checked. There are no used parts on it, everything is new and so on. Installing it in the Beetle was absurd, but it was worth it. Started, immediately 13.87 volts. I would recommend this if you need a new one, I'll be updating it in a few months.
