Our birds love them

I've read some reviews that their birds don't like nuggets. I live in the Northeast and my property has numerous walnut trees that attract many squirrels. Since using hot nuggets I have not seen any squirrels at the bird feeders for the past 4 winters. In terms of birds we get a lot of variety including woodpeckers. Good product.

Squirrels will eat it too

I bought the pepperoni version to keep squirrels away but it doesn't. There is a lot of cayenne pepper on the nuggets as my eyes watered when I filled the feeder. birds love it. It's a bit expensive as the birds eat it up quickly. Don't use hot peppers as they don't deter squirrels, so they're not worth what they can do to your eyes.

Great for repelling squirrels!

We were harassed by squirrels who knocked over and almost destroyed our suet feeding. They hate spicy lard and leave the feeding station alone. We mix what's cheaper elsewhere and find that a mix of 2/3 hot peppers with others (birdseed, plain lard balls) works best. If only we could keep the native hawk away from the birds.

Our singers love it!

We've always used paprika tarts, but we've never tried granules, so I took the risk and ordered them. In less than a few days, warblers migrating through our area found a feeder with hot pepper granules in it, and when they approached the feeder, the feeder was covered with it. The pellets are only available for a week and no other bird species have been spotted at the feeder.

Five stars for food

One of the few things we found that stops deer and squirrels from emptying birdhouses. . At least I hoped so. Well, the deer didn't try to eat the nuggets. BUT the birds didn't eat it either. We filled several feeders before the last cold snaps (10 degrees and below) and the feed remained untouched for three weeks. I canceled my subscription because none of my gardening friends would touch this material.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Vanish

Squirrels hate it, but our birds love it!

First of all the 6 pack deal is a great deal! It will melt in the rain as mentioned in another review but any open feeder will fill with water when it rains no matter what's in it and I just schedule feeding accordingly. We have crows, blue jays, tits, nuthatches and other birds that love this food. Yes, starlings too, but they tend to fight and don't stay long. And the squirrels won't touch that junk! PS I also recommend pepper cakes from this brand but would recommend buying them elsewhere. A

Pros
  • Great for a small home

  • A dodgy purchase for the elderly
