I hold my hook like a knife and I love every feature of the hook except one. PRO: Nice long neck and grip. Acrylic and wool threads slide easily down the throat. Very nice pointed tip for maneuvering in stitches. CONS: The matte satin handle is very rough and rubs against my palm. A burning sensation remained immediately after 3 minutes of application. I understand why some people really like these hooks but I have some complaints about how excited they are. The advantages of this hook set are that they are light weight and quite comfortable and offer an alternative to Susan Bates' built in hooks - something I've actually had a hard time finding.
