Solid Oil Filter is the best among oil filters

Don't listen to people whining about missing filter ends. These are keyboard engineers who don't look at the big picture. The factory filter has no filter ends. The lack of ends provides a bypass in the event of a clogged filter. Nothing is worse than a clogged filter and the need for an engine overhaul. This is a good filter that comes with housing o-rings and housing drain plugs. I will buy one for my next oil change.

Pros
  • VERSATILE COMPATIBILITY: Designed to work with all synthetic, conventional and blended motor oils
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Suitable for 5.7L Tundra, everything is fine in design.

First, the gasket prevents oil from going through the filter. While the oil is flowing, the cheap glue on the ends is only needed to keep the folds straight. And it does. A metal cap is not required. K&N claims better flow with fewer restrictions and higher filtration. In general, more wrinkles mean more surface area and more flow. This filter has about β…“ fewer pleats than the Mobile 1 filter. The filter paper could be better, or they just blow smoke, I don't know. Although the oil pressure is…

Pros
  • EASY TO REMOVE: Quick and easy removal with a wrench
Cons
  • Good, but not very good

WARNING! DO NOT BUY THIS FILTER! WTF, K&N?!?

Created by a registered professional mechanical engineer with automotive design experience, DO NOT BUY THIS FILTER. See how the folds are open at the ends? Unfiltered oil flows right through them! See similar filters for my Lexus IS-F from Wix and Amsoil? Both have end caps to prevent this. Heck, even the picture on the box and here on Revain for a K&N product SHOWS CAPITAL LETTERS. FIX IT K&N! FIX IT! THE! NOW! Incidentally, K&N also happened to change the design of their spin-on filters for…

CRAZY! ABSOLUTELY TRASH!

This filter almost cost me a new engine! Installed on Toyota Tundra 5.7 liters. At first everything went as usual. I've been using fram filters since the truck was new. I am a seasoned mechanic with over 25 years experience in vehicles. With the exception of two oil changes, I've changed the oil myself on this car since it was new. I use Mobil 1 0W-20 oil. Started after the oil change, pressure checked, everything ok, checked for leaks, everything ok. After about 5 miles of driving the oil…

Just like the original, only better!

I have a 2011 Lexus IS F with a 5.0L V8 engine that I take very good care of. I study every detail that I put on my car because I drive it very hard on the streets and circuits. I usually use Toyota/Lexus parts as I feel the engineers/designers were probably right when designing the car they made. Technology improves over time and the new part is proving to be better than the one on the machine I'm upgrading. This filter is just like the original, only better. I showed a photo of a regular…

Not many people check their oil filters. They only buy by name. Good. But if you're a techie, just know that cheap filters (like the cheapest Fram) are 40 microns, OEM quality oil filters are 30 microns, WIX filters are 20 microns, and K&N are 10 microns. And also. The gap between the rings and the cylinder wall is 19 microns and between the necks is 9 microns. The more you can filter out, the less likely horn particles are to get caught between moving parts and cause wear. According to EPA…
