Price doesn't matter

If you're using it as a bezel it's solid with a nice chrome finish. I've used it 3 times, 2 times as a faceplate (and it worked fine) and once as a screw chuck. The screw cartridge is not good. When I tried to unscrew it, the screw immediately broke. The screw is cheap and too small to be of much use. I had to use a drill press to remove the broken piece from my project. If you want a small inexpensive bezel it's fine, if you're looking for a screw chuck don't buy it.

  • Great price
Cons
  • So-so

Works well, should last a few years

Sturdy enough, lots of mounting holes, really decent frame at a great price, read 1 star reviews, 2 people got a star for ordering the wrong one Size for their lathe and two people gave it a star then said it works great! Depending on the length of your lathe's threaded shank, you may need to add a washer so it can be tightened without the threaded shank going through the center hole, but this is one of the downsides of aftermarket parts.

Pros
  • Test for a year
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Center screw is no good

What's good: Now this is my main draw to the spindle. I love it! Sturdy and balanced, I expect many years of good use from it. Bad: Center spindle screw torn internal thread/set screw on first use. It took a lot of desperate effort to pry it from the piece of oak it was built into, leaving an ugly burr in the spindle. Will I buy again? Yes, without hesitation, and we may do so in the near future for some additional sizing suggestions to add flexibility with different sized projects.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Upgradable

Perfect. Ideal for 1 " diameter, 8 dpi, 1 " long spindles.

Can't believe it was only $17. The truth is twisted and heavy. I ordered a 4" screwless chuck because I will be fitting my own store made wood screw chuck. I wanted that flexibility. One parameter that I couldn't find anywhere, anyway, is the length of the threaded section. It's an inch long. My Jet 1014 lathe is 1" diameter, 1" long, 8 dpi spindle and fits perfectly and completely with no bushings or anything else. I can't wait to start working on it.

  • Stylish and Modern Design

Not my favorite but OK

I prefer a different faceplate. More choices with this one. But this one was fine too. For turning small things. I made a rookie mistake with this. Since it screws all the way onto the spindle, leaving room for the spindle, I have to use it with a spacer since the spindle pushes all the way in, pushing the screws right out of the project. It would be better if it screwed onto the spindle and had some sort of stop before the spindle came out the other side. But it's easy enough to put some sortโ€ฆ

Screw chuck mounting screws wear out quickly; otherwise great product

Although I tightened the grub screw on the hanger bolt, the 2nd or 3rd part unscrewed the center of the hanger bolt and rounded off all the threads below the grub screw (at this point you either need a couple of lock nuts or a couple of vises to remove it from the part). Might have taken a little longer if I had noticed a flat spot on the threads and straightened them out with a set screw, but probably not by much. They appear to be M6x50 if you need to order a replacement like I did. It's also

Inexpensive and well made

When you are a wood turner making shells you can never have enough ammo. If I had a big budget I would have a few Nova cartridges, a vacuum cartridge, a Cole cartridge and other specialized cartridges, but like most amateurs, my budget is limited - at least for now. I rely heavily on temporary chucks and softwood glue blocks that attach to small, inexpensive faceplates like this one. About $18 for a 2" model, it's cheap enough that I can keep several on hand, each with their own specialโ€ฆ

Works as intended well for Accessory

Obviously this is a fairly simple product. This is the first faceplate I have bought as the 2 used lathes I bought came with standard cast iron faceplates. Pros: 1. I don't have the equipment to say there is no runout, but when used and subsequently installed on my lathe, runout is minimal - it isn't.2. I really like that it has 8 screw holes versus the stock 4 holes. I believe it really helps to keep the part safe and keep bolted items to a minimum.3. And maybe it should be number 1...butโ€ฆ
