I LOVE this vest for my 30 lb 2 year old even though it's technically rated at 33-55 lbs. This allows his arms to float freely (unlike real puddle jumpers which kids don't learn to swim easily/properly) and it pushes him out of the water without squeezing his head/face. He loves wearing it! I also like that the zipper is on the back so he can't mess with it. I just wish there were more options for gender neutral templates - mainly non-girl whales :)

The vest will keep your child's head above the water, but the vest will not stay in place. Once in the water the vest rises and rests on the child's chin/jaw. The zipper on the back cuts into the back of the child's head. No real cut just pressing on the skin which caused my child to complain of discomfort. Otherwise it seems to work.
