I really like this product, it's not too big and not too small. I use it for my round parrot cage. It's easy to attach, peel and add fruit. So far I haven't had any problems with it and my birds have eaten apples with no problem. Very happy with this product! There are 4 parts in total: a hanging hook, a rod, a washer, and then an end screw. Everything is very easy to clean and assemble.

The screw at the bottom of the shaft is very small and easily lost. I don't think its diameter can be placed in a hardware store because it's not a wing nut. It would be much better if they had a metal washer and wing nut. My friend bought one of these for his parrot and it has already lost the screw on the bottom that keeps fruit etc from falling off. I bought a shorter product to hang fresh treats in 2 parrot cages. I felt that a longer one would be better suited for larger birds like cockatoos or parrots. Parakeets/parrots love to nibble and peck at things.
