Threads came loose when I hand tightened so I was immediately skeptical. As soon as I put a wrench on the crank puller, the threads frayed immediately. I can't imagine this tool ever working to remove a crank. The bottom bracket tool looks solid and may work well, but I haven't had a chance to try it. They sent the package back and asked for a refund.

This connecting rod was tightened twice. I lubricated the internal threads and contact and also lubricated the threads of the tool so the pull was smooth. No problems if used properly and carefully. Apply some penetrating lubricant to the spindle where the square taper meets the crank to ease loosening. This tool isn't hardened steel, I don't believe it, but if you're careful and use common sense, it will work multiple times.

This is the worst product I have ever bought. If I could put a zero I'd bet the metal is too soft to remove the handle. My first attempt at using this tool stripped all the threads from the pusher screw. It's non-standard thread so you can't replace the inner screw making this tool completely useless. Just what I needed to replace the bottom bracket on my schwinn taff 29er bike. Tried the caveman with a crowbar and hammer and succeeded with the non-powered handle but the power side wouldn't budge. Received this kit for next day delivery and was able to remove both handles. With all the reviews, I was wary of putting too much pressure on the drive pin, so I lubed the threads with plenty of anti-seize and tapped the crank to make it easier to remove (think automatic ball joints).
