I had the same experience as others. I did not attempt to insert the ball while attached to the Garmin. It takes a little work to bring it into line. After assembly it works great. I'll be happy with a Garmin that can no longer lean to either side. You can't imagine a better moment.

Thought I'd try this with my Garmin Nuvi 2589 although the product description doesn't specifically list compatibility. I've found them to work great with my Nuvi 2589 and my two bases (sandbag and sticky ground). They were a bit more difficult to attach to both of my bases, but they seem to be holding up much better - an old mount that I kept unclipping from the bases. Very satisfied with the product.

The truth is I found a Garmin OEM part and didn't need to use it but tried one to see if it worked. The reviews I read said they were small. Absolute truth. It takes a lot of pressure to get them to snap over the ball on my Garmin vacuum mount and it deforms that mount mount. After attaching it to the ball, I'm not sure if the flat part will stick to the back of my GPS unit due to plastic deformation. Actually, I never had the chance to try it. I installed it on an older NAVI 2639 LMT which I have updated with the latest maps. Revain's product information doesn't say 2639 is compatible, but guess what, it worked! I was able to make some adjustments and it fit and held up very well. Due to differences in the manufacturing process or minor product changes, it may be necessary to take some sandpaper and remove some plastic.
