I had to download the driver for it

I had to download the driver from FTDI. After I did that, everything is fine. Bought to replace the broken one that came with the Radioddity GA-510.

Pros
  • Excellent performance
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

It Just Works - Portable Audio & Video

It Just Works. No hassles with drivers or other unexpected surprises. I would have preferred a more standard/modern way of programming my radios (USB-C or Micro-USB) but that's not the product's fault.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Damaged

A complete waste of portable audio and video

Nothing happens when I plug it in. The link to the company website to download the driver doesn't even work anymore. I thought I saved $17 but instead I just wasted my time. I was supposed to get the cable for $32.

Very Useful Product

The Radioddity PC001 FTDI USB Programming Cable has proven to be a very useful and worthwhile product that is not only valuable but also a huge time saver! By using this product with your Baofeng UV-5R/compatible product, you will save a lot of time because you no longer have to constantly search for frequencies.

  • Easy to Read Control Panel

  • Some Difficulties

Not plug and play, not recommended for CHIRP or UV-5R

I bought it because the description said there were no driver issues. Well it didn't work when I tried to connect Baofeng UV-5R to CHIRP. CHIRP just froze and I had to force CHIRP to close. I then tried to download the drivers for the cable (the description says I don't need them) and followed a link to a 37 page instruction form which was scanned or something because the image was so blurry I couldn't find some you couldn't read about it. important parts. After much fiddling I decided to send…

In general, the driver should be installed automatically when you connect a USB device to your computer for the first time. This is different with this programming cable. However, downloading and installing the driver from Radioddity's website was easy enough. After that, it's easy to connect to the radio and selecting a port in the program is easy. (In my case it was set to port 3 and it was the only option in the program that wasn't grayed out, so it's very easy). The connection is secure. I…

Program your radio with ease, without driver fuss.

I bought this programming cable as a replacement. I've used it on several of my radios and haven't had a single programming problem. It has an official FTDI chip inside, so there's no fuss about downloading drivers or anything. It's really plug and play. I've used it with my Mac Mini and it works flawlessly. In my experience, read and write times are about the same as my other programming cable from BTECH. However, this one is a few euros cheaper. I've attached a picture of two cables with a…

There is nothing wrong with this cable

This FTDI cable did not initially work with Windows and the Radioddity GM 30 it is designed for. After two weeks of fiddling and emailing Radioddity tech support (5 stars) everything is working now. You must understand that Windows 10 disabled the previous drivers that worked with this cable. You need to add "Legacy Devices" (see "Device Manager") to see each COM port. Yes, it will have a terrible yellow triangle. Radioddity sent me a driver to solve this particular problem. Don't let Windows…

Working fine (with radio issues)

The cable worked with 3 radios and 2 different programming software packages but there were some minor issues worth knowing about. if you come across them. Plugged into the USB port of my old Windows 8.1 system, it was recognized immediately and the driver installed automatically in less than a minute. A quick check in Windows Device Manager showed that it was assigned COM port 3 (the COM port number needs to be set in the software). -3R+ (yes, quite a diverse collection of old cheap radios)…
