Rancho RS62116 RockGEAR Skid Plate Review

I installed this on the front differential on my 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler and have encountered rock and hit the ground going over ruts. It's rock solid and helps the differential slide while protecting it. They only give up 1/4 inch clearance. A small price for reliable protection. You don't have to retrofit the differential cover. It protects the drain cover and its screws very well. I also have Rancho skid plates on my 2008 Jeep Wrangler. Takes impact and protects.

I purchased this skid plate and it does not fit my 2021 JLUR which was made in August. Chrysler has made changes to the front axle of the Rubicon M210, and the casting of the Dana 44 front differential is different from previous 2021 vehicles. For example, it no longer has a bottom drain cap on the diff case. Please check your Rubicon if you have one. They do not have an oil drain cap on the bottom of the differential, chances are this skid plate will not fit your vehicle. The record itself is…

I spent hours on the phone with Rancho Customer Service. They asked and I sent photos, a copy of the receipt, my jeep VIN etc etc and have not received a reply yet. The rear lugs closest to the driveshaft are at a slightly wrong angle and the fat guy isn't long enough to step on them. Bad due to manufacturing defects as it looks like a good diff skid plate but useless if you can't fit it without Mickey Mouse Jerry installing it.
