These filters can be easily dismantled with two medium-sized pipe wrenches

These filters can be easily dismantled with two medium-sized pipe wrenches. Fine steel dust gets on the magnet. The filter is much better than the "shield" equivalent in the "so-called transmission filters" that all cars are equipped with. The question is, should these filters be changed every 10,000 or 20,000 miles?

Pros
  • a practical item
Cons
  • very expensive

Does what it should.

Delivered fairly quickly. Installed on Tundra 2000 with 445,000 miles. Shifts are smoother and the oil doesn't look too bad. Filter installed and transmission flushed. I'll change the filter within the next month once the oil there soaks everything up. I've heard nothing but good things about these filters and searched several forums and gear shops. Everyone recommends this filter.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Expensive

I added these filters in along with the external transmission coolers.

I have installed these filters along with external transmission coolers on some of my vehicles that do not have actual filters in the transmission. I want my transmissions to last as long as my engines and it seems that the manufacturer's service recommendations for newer vehicles don't include transmission oil change intervals. They didn't come with clamps or hose fittings so you may need to go to your local parts store to get what you need for installation.

Steering pump and transmission filter are required.

One of these filters can significantly extend the life of your transmission and power steering pump. I have this model on my pump and bought a professional aluminum filter with replaceable trance cartridges. Made in Australia by people who drive a lot off-road. The filter contains a magnet and a paper cartridge with a bypass valve. Do not rely solely on the transmission's internal filter to clean the fluid. Most of them are nothing more than a steel mesh screen and do not filter fine particles.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

Very good in-line transmission filter with built-in magnet for capture.

Very nice transmission line filter with an integrated magnet that catches the metal chips circulating in the transmission. Particularly useful for Honda Accord automatic transmissions which are prone to complete failure after around 60,000 miles as the owner does not have access to the transmission's internal filter without overhauling the transmission. There is NO "sump" on some Honda vehicles with automatic transmissions. Visit www.repairpal.com for more information and learn more about Honda

Prevents sand recirculation

I changed the factory transmission filter at the same time I added the Magnefine filter and replaced almost all of the transmission oil. After driving about 40,000 kilometers, I examined the filter. I was surprised how many metal particles stuck to the magnet. In addition, the filter material contained a significant amount of sand. Since it is installed after the factory filter, I believe Magnefine has prevented the sand from recirculating. I'll switch earlier next time. It's a little painful…

Good cost savings on filters and transmission accessories

I use this on my automatic transmission for my Honda. Combined with regular fluid changes, my transmission always shifts smoothly and there is minimal metal on the magnetic drain plug. filter bottom. It turns out that due to the fact that I used poor quality hose clamps, I overtightened them, which caused the inlet to the filter to bend and crack. To avoid this, buy fuel line clamps and only use a new hose with each filter change. FYI, this will be my third of these and so far nothing but a…

2000 Honda Odyssey on Transmission Filter and Accessories

Installed this filter on a new transmission after the original transmission failed 90,000 miles. At about 70,000 miles the transmission began to slip, which was noticeable, although I had to replace it when I did it when I had to go back east to help a family member move to California. The current gearbox has 145,000 miles on it and the gearbox is very clean. I changed this filter every 12,000 miles and took it apart every time. The first time after replacing the gearbox and driving across the…
