Description of ๐Ÿ”Ž Stemedu 5PCS RCWL-0516 Motion Detection Sensor: Advanced Microwave Radar Module for Arduino ESP8266 Nodemcu Wemos - Ideal for Animal Detection, Long Range 5-7m, Outperforms HC-SR501

๐Ÿšฉ This RCWL-0516 module has the characteristics of high sensitivity, high induction distance, high reliability, large induction angle, wide power supply voltage range, etc. it is widely used in various kinds of human body induction lighting and alarm and so on. ๐Ÿšฉ The RCWL-0516 microwave radar sensor module can detect inert object at the condition that it has enough density, volume and it is in motion. ๐Ÿšฉ Microwave radar sensor will sense motion through most anything. The more shielding there is, the less detection range you get. I can detect motion through glass, drywall walls, ceilings and floors. It is very sensitive. You might have to filter the power supply. Tutorials contact us. ๐Ÿšฉ It can work with (for) arduino/nodemcu/wemos etc.; It can detect human, cat, rat, water. Works with Arduino and Nodemcu Document link, please contact us. ๐Ÿšฉ How to contact us? Security and surveillance quality issues

The first device I tried was consistently HIGH, it never dropped to LOW. The next unit worked pretty well and even spotted me through a hollow door. I left it for a week and then soldered wires to Gnd, Out, Vin. Now the device only detects motion from the "blank" side and only up to a foot away. Pretty unimpressive. Maybe the other 3 will work.

Works great in motion detectors

Covers 360 degrees. Even dogs walking up the stairs will be detected if the sensor is in the basement. You can adjust the run time (output duration) by adding a capacitor. The information is hard to come by, but this is the best resource I've found. wolles-elektronikkiste.de/de/rcwl-0516-microwave-radar-motion detectorhttps://wolles-elektronikkiste.de/de/rcwl-0516-microwave-radar-motion detector

They're sensitive

If you've tried using PIR modules (like a bug's eye) with ESP-based microcontrollers, you'll find that you get a lot of false positive readings. This is because the shield does not prevent the Wi-Fi signal from triggering the PIR. These modules fix it. The only warning I have for you is this: you are sensitive. When I plugged it in for the first time, it continued to work. I held it in my hand. When I put it on the table everything was fine. If you're looking for sensitive thermal sensors, grab

3 out of 5 were DOA

I am disappointed in this purchase as 3 out of 5 were bad. I guess I wouldn't mind if only 1 was bad as that kind of quality control is guaranteed for items this cheap. The 2 working parts seem to work well when triggered by the movement of my whole body. However, at a distance of a few feet, a simple vigorous up and down motion of the hand will not produce a motion output, but a step in any direction will produce a motion output. This can be useful if you only want to recognize people and notโ€ฆ

They even work through interior walls

I tried one of the panels and got the detection range it claimed. I have found that the board becomes "sensitized" and gets repeated detections at longer distances than the original detection. I tried running the board through an interior wall (drywall with no wiring in the joist). He seemed to have about the same range as when he was clean. This would be useful for covert intruder alarms when nothing is showing. I suspect it won't work through an outside wall, but haven't tried it. The boardโ€ฆ

They actually work if you do a little research.

I put off buying because I couldn't get the first one I tried snapping less than 2cm. For fun I took another board and replaced the header with a 24ga. durable connecting wire. I had pieces of junk about 2" long so I plugged them in and the board worked. It worked for about 1 min. I started to wonder if I was missing something in the description of the board. There was nothing in the description to suggest this that there was a minimum length for connecting wires, so I followed the link toโ€ฆ

seven meters? More like a 1 inch range. FAIL

I connected the modules to 5V, ground and an oscilloscope output to see the response to motion. All 5 modules behaved exactly the same: 1) When applying 5V to Vin the output of the 3.3V regulator gave 3.3V. Good! 2) Then the output went high for a few seconds. Also good, proves that the control chip 3) never lifted again despite movement around it as long as I keep my finger within 1 inch of the sensor on either side. An inch is NOT seven meters. NOT GOOD. It seems that the HF generator is notโ€ฆ

There are a few things to know

I use this outdoors, hidden in a piece of cedar wood, in a small piece of PVC pipe attached to a 4x4 mailbox post. So there is 1/4" wood plus PVC in front of the sensor and 3 1/2" wood plus PVC behind it. It detects people or vehicles up to 15 feet ahead and completely ignores any movement from behind, which is perfect for my use. When used indoors the sensor is too sensitive and can be tamed if you know how to use a soldering iron by connecting a 1Mฮฉ resistor between the R and GN points on the

Works with Arduino WiFi Rev2

Sensor works with Arduino Uno WiFi Rev2 out of the box. Very easy to use and detects movements well. We got it for a school science project and it worked without any problems. You have to solder the pins on the board, but this is very clear from the description. The only downside is that my package had 4 pin headers instead of 5 pins as shown in the picture. They only need 3 pins to work properly so that's not a problem. I only used my own contacts, but the ones provided should work just fineโ€ฆ
