Prepared for the first time in my life

Finally I could use this on Cubs 19.05.17. Look - it was about 40 degrees, the wind was howling and the sheets were raining down. My wife, three kids and I weren't dressed for the weather, but miraculously I had an Arcturus poncho in my pocket. It covered three children and a woman, and my son sat on his wife's lap. This kept them dry and warm enough to last through the end of the 5th inning when a rain delay was called. This poncho is absolutely huge, waterproof, windproof and strong enough to

Very good rain poncho/tarp for most uses

Covers fairly well and keeps you dry and ventilated. Good ventilation and protection is why I prefer a poncho to a raincoat. However, high winds and heavy rain will keep you crouched down until the blow is over. The material is quite strong and with the grommets this makes a nice lightweight awning and rain cover (you need to make sure you close the canopy). But as a normal camping tarpaulin it is not enough. I wear it on hikes and day trips. Sometimes I also take an ultralight hammock with me…

  • Works great for me

Light doesn't always mean good

Yes, it's light, but there are some problems with it. First, it's waterproof, not waterproof. Once it's been soaked enough times, you'll find yourself getting wet underneath. I would never trust that for shelter from the rain! Second, despite being a ripstop material, it's so thin that even a light grip could result in a break. Third, the opening for the hood is too small and not adjustable. I guess I just have a big head because it hardly ever misses me. She is a good size. It has snaps and…

Great poncho, buy!

I read reviews and this poncho met and exceeded expectations. I needed a light but good poncho for archery during the rainy season in northern Arizona. This poncho is not very loud, very cuddly, withstands heavy rain, the fabric does not leak, it is very easy to take with you in bad weather. What I like best is the size. I'm 5ft 10", 170lbs and during the descent the poor poncho covered me with a small to medium daypack on my back and bulged down the side and reached to my ankles. Feet stayed…

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • I don't remember but something happened

Me: Major international hiking experience Use: I used it on a 60 mile hike. Without a backpack it's perfect for my 6ft 2in height. It fits my 70L backpack but shows my bum and the back of my legs. However, if it were longer, it wouldn't work without a backpack. Take ponchos seriously for REQUIRED use, get the best. All in all, you can save on almost everything when hiking EXCEPT RAINWEAR. Bring a good hard-shell raincoat or a more durable poncho. If you're more of a casual user, this is…

Pros
  • A few competitors
Cons
  • Some minor things

Looks like a lightweight, oversized poncho with a touch of ripstop. This is about 4 inches off the ground on my 6ft + 1.5″ shoe body. The waterproofing is a thin heat applied plastic sheet(?) that appears to be fairly professionally applied but has some 3-4mm diameter (flat) circles when unsealed. The hood and neck are spacious and therefore allow you to keep your head warm like in a thick hoodie, but there is no visor to speak of. Too bad: This is NOT a backpacking poncho. The designers…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers

It's nice and big best in Wind & Rain

I'm 5 10. This black poncho reaches my ankles. What can I say. He is beautiful and tall. No more wet feet. The toes of your shoes can get wet when you walk. I can sit in the rain and I'm not afraid of getting wet feet. It's actually big enough that I could wear it over a backpack for someone my size. This poncho is sealed with seams. However, the poncho I received had a defect where the two halves of the hood connected to the rest of the poncho. I solved the problem with "Gear AID" clear repair
