Wonderful color for knitting and crocheting

Saffron nice colour. I bought two skeins and used up all of the first skein and half of the second skein. These are great prices if you can't find yarn in local stores. The choices around me are very limited, so I appreciate the opportunity to have such beautiful colors delivered straight to my home.

Pros
  • Good product for its price
Cons
  • Older model

Best Blanket Yarn

I know there are Red Heart Super Saver haters out there. But nothing beats its value for money and durability for making blankets and throws for charity. Some say it's too rough, but it soaks up very well after being machine washed and dried. There are many color options and matching colors is easy without the use of dyes. I have no complaints. I've been using it for many years and will continue to do so for as long as it's available.

Pros
  • Weight: #4 Worsted (Medium)
Cons
  • High Price

Too tough and rough

Too tough and rough. The saffron color is beautiful. Pictured top to bottom: Caron Sunflower (my favourite), RHSS Bright Yellow and RHSS Saffron. Both bright yellow and saffron are coarse. Karon is softer than RHSS and I prefer amigurami. The Red Heart With Love yarn is softer. My favorite soft yarn at the moment is Vanna's Choice. People say to wash the RHSS and it will soften. A little more difficult if you are making rag dolls.

Pros
  • Fiber composition: 100% acrylic
Cons
  • New competitors have emerged

Favorite Stripe Combination

I am crocheting Grandma's Square Blanket (aka Battenberg Blanket) using Red Heart Super Saver Ombres, Solids and a color from the Stripes line - "favorite stripes". Saffron pairs perfectly with yellow in Favorite Stripes. First I tried Lemon and Bright Yellow, but without much joy. I was also close to buying a skein of gold instead of saffron, but saffron is definitely the closest thing to yellow. In the picture, the Favorite Stripes crochet square is directly above the Saffron square. However,

Pros
  • Ball Size Solids: 198g/7oz, 333 meters/164 yards
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer pattern
