mine is broken to Hitch Accessory

Item purchased from Revain August 5, 2012 - During cleaning today a ball bearing fell out rendering the item unusable. I only have 2 ball bearings, not 4 as shown in the current listing. I'm glad it fell apart in my hand and not while towing a trailer.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Vulgarity

I depend on it. for hitch accessories

Works great. I've had it for several years with no complaints. I've towed boats up to 26ft, several quad bikes, a medium sized RV, a car transporter of historic vehicles. I lubricate with wd-40 several times a year. Also, I keep the truck's cab when I'm not using it. If you leave yours on all the time, this review isn't for you.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Not sure

Hitch froze. Ball cannot be removed

There are small moving parts within this device that are susceptible to corrosion and breakage. This is my second failure. I can't remove the 2 inch ball because the insides are frozen. I really had to upgrade to 1 7/8 and it was a major inconvenience.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Weak

Works great with external accessories

Bought a few months ago but in the last few months I've used it many times. I've towed it every weekend, including an 800-mile ride on a closed-U trailer that weighed between 1,500 and 2,000 pounds. I often switch between 2" and 1 7/8 balls since my boat is 2" and my cargo trailer is 1 7/8. All I had to do was shake the ball a little to get it out. I don't know how long this works well, but so far I'm very satisfied. It's much easier to use a coin to turn a knob on a ball and engage a new ball…

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Periodicity

Good product with limitations

So far so good!. I would not find it suitable for your main hitch ball. I've used this on an ATV that moves a lot of trailers and other equipment on our property and it's perfect for the task. You may find that it does indeed rust and seize easily with exposure to the elements and regular towing. I covered mine with anti-seize before installing it. A good product, I think you just have to understand its limitations. If I drove relatively short distances, and not on snow and ice, I would find…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes

  • Crumpled packaging

from 2011 to 2015 and still holding up!

We ordered this ball system in 2011 and still love it here in 2015! We use it all the time to pull all kinds of trailers. Easy to use and change balls. I am a small woman with health issues that often make my arms and hands weak. This system is easy to use for both me and my husband. We liked it so much that we immediately ordered another one for the second car. The price is really good compared to others sold in other stores. With all the use it has held up VERY well! It didn't rust. It shows…

Pros
  • Decent performance

  • I don't really like anything everything is fine

Best option for multiple balls

I have had one of these units for about 7 years now and love it. After many years the locking ball bearings failed so I was just looking for a replacement shaft assembly. Turns out I could buy it for $13 less than the shaft alone. My original was an 8000# block with 4 locking ball bearings, the 5000# block only has 2 but the balls still fit and lock properly (there is a groove in the ball for the locks to sit in). In fact, the 5000# rating is all I really need for my current followers. My…

Exactly what I need.

Got this in the mail. Automobile). So I didn't have to clamp the ball joint in a vise. You can even turn it upside down if you prefer to have the nut on top for installation. After that I inserted the hitch ball (without the ball installed) into the ball mount. I hand-threaded the lock washer and nut on, then dripped a "lock nut" onto the threads, then tightened using an adjustable wrench holding the shank up and a crescent wrench to tighten the nut. A: This product is perfect for my use. I…
