Accurate and easy to use analyzer

I love this product. You no longer need to scoop a large amount of wort. I only need one drop to get accurate SG or BRIX readings. In addition, the temperature does not need to be adjusted. All you have to do is thread it through one of the inserts and drop it onto the windshield. Comes with a hard case to prevent damage.

Not made of metal! plastic waste! Do not buy!

Used a Brix refractometer for many years until the plastic cover broke. This one seemed like a decent replacement, but it's a complete fake. This is a plastic that looks like a metal version. It's annoying that it took forever to get here and not worth going back. It's also a lot darker than my original, even in direct sunlight. Photos attached, blue is my original black french refractometer which is here. Do not buy!

    Good price compared to others

I have been using a hydrometer for many years and am tired of taking the large samples that a hydrometer requires. I have used this refractometer along with my hydrometer and the numbers come out exactly the same, even the final gravity reading. If you measure the initial density accurately, you can easily and accurately calculate the final density using a refractometer. Very well made, good price, will only use a refractometer from now on. On top of that, you get a case and droppers that…

Great product, customer service and fast shipping

The refractometer looks solid, is well built and comes in a nice hard plastic case. My recommendation came in Chinese, but customer service sent me an English version within 3 hours. I found the methods on the internet but wanted to see the manufacturer's methods. I found calibration very easy and a small screwdriver was included to make adjustments. I calibrated and tested a sample of extracted honey in 5 minutes. I look forward to using this at this year's honey harvest. Product and customer…

    Easy to use and accurate

I have not used a refractometer before and have relied on an areometer instead. This product works well and appears to be as accurate as my hydrometer. I've tested it on my hydrometer and taken numerous readings from both and they've always been close. I will only use this device for all future brew measurements. The scale is easy to read and you use significantly less product in the measuring process. I would recommend this to anyone new to brewing or still using a hydrometer. It comes…

    Good for Maple Syrup

We harvested 30 Sugar Maple trees in the yard and in the woods. The refractometer works well to help us know when our sap has turned into maple syrup. I love that you only need to use a tiny but liquid amount to get a reading. I would like more detailed instructions. I don't think I could figure out how to use it alone. However, my husband used to be a chemist and used refractometers all the time. He showed me how to use it. It is important to realize that these less expensive refractometers…

    Very short guide

This block seems very precise and easy to read. I checked the calibration with distilled water and it showed a perfect 0 right out of the box. I knew my car wasn't at 50/50 after a flush and prime, but I wanted to know exactly where it was. My test reading showed -28F, so I have a concentration of around 46%. It also makes windshield wiper fluid and battery acid, but there's no guide detailing all the scales. It's pretty basic, but if you're not familiar with everything you need, you can find…

Suitable for breeders but not for home brewing

I am new to home brewing but have a lot of experience in the aquarium hobby. I have a very good refractometer for my aquarium, so of course the first thing I did was to compare. This item is cheap. It seems cheap, and there are a few things you need to know (e.g. I tested it on my post-calibration faucet and on my two current tanks, compared to my expensive tool, and it worked great. I also tested the cider SG which I was about to use against my hygro and it was spot on too. Then I checked my…

Decent device for the average brewer

The most important feature of this instrument is its ability to accurately measure strength. It must be calibrated before a measurement can be taken. This is easily done by putting a few drops of distilled water on the lens and then turning the adjustment screw until "0" appears in the viewfinder. What worries me is that you have to trust the accuracy of the calibration. To be fair, this concern can apply to any refractometer. Other aspects of the device are its design and durability. Its…

    I can't believe I didn't buy them sooner!

Can't believe I haven't bought a refractometer in years! I wasted gallons of beer on an old hydrometer instead of just using 3 drops of beer. And the Beerbrew Brix refractometer only needs 3 drops of beer to get accurate results. I used to rely on an old-fashioned hydrometer that cost around $5 to $10. The price range for refractometers has dropped incredibly, with this refractometer costing just over $18; best value for money I've seen. Stop wasting lots of wort on inaccurate readings. I've…
