Many Vanagon owners ask me how to start adding solar panels to their current installations. They were often overwhelmed with the amount of information, options and user settings described on the Internet. I wanted to find a good all round rig that anyone with a screwdriver and some wire strippers could install in under an hour without having to pull out my hair by doing tons of online research. Overall I am VERY happy with this Renogy 100w foldable solar case. For a total price of around $285…

Winner for my small caravan

I've had my doubts about a sunny suitcase for a few years. Taking my small caravan to a place with no service is what finally spurred me on to this purchase. At the same time, Renogy was always one of the two brands I thought about buying. I can camp for 3-4 days without draining the battery if I use a lot of conservation practice, but a solar powered solution has always been in the plan. block from his case. I connected it to a battery in my garden and simply charged it with solar energy…

Enliven your outdoor life with this 100w 12v solar powered Renogy case

We've been living in an RV for a little over a year, traveling across North America and seeing all the wonderful wilderness we can reach in our five-wheel motorhome. Up until a month ago we mainly relied on our 3400w generator to charge our batteries and turn on the lights. I originally thought about getting one of these solar cases, but wanted to equip the camper with a full solar pack during our second winter and initially decided to just use the generator until then. Well, after long, dry…

Normal initial cost but poor or NO warranty service

I have Zamp portable panels (200w and 80w) and a Zamp 60A charge controller in an RV. I recently had to expand and decided to try Renogy because they are cheaper. I chose these 100W foldable units with no charge controller as I find moving my 200W panel cumbersome due to its size. Comparing Renogy to Zamp I would say that Renogy is just as good (functionally) and cheaper. I love that the Renogy has a handle on the plate; Zamp attaches the handle to the body. I like folding locks a little more…

Pros
  • Hands free operation

EXCELLENT PANELS - but I had brain damage.

Okay - I really like these panels - but I've had a few failed attempts at using them and thought a good review might be useful to others. Simply put, I like to play around with things. The woman would have screamed and brought it back. The kit does not include a battery that supports the settings in the control board. Without them, you'll have to reset the date, time, and battery type every time you reconnect it to the battery. Also, the documentation doesn't say what type of battery you need…

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Not the best

Worked until the wire broke (UPDATE: 9/15/14)

I have moderate expectations for anything solar related. It all depends on the sun and the weather. I ordered this suitcase solar panel to charge the chassis and home batteries in my class B motorhome when it is parked at the campsite for a long time. There is very little free space on the B class roof. for solar battery. Also, my Class B van doesn't have a ladder, so it would be difficult to adjust the angle of the roof-mounted solar panel for maximum efficiency. That's why I chose this…

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Ok mostly, but...
