Hole smaller than advertised

Smaller than advertised and narrower the deeper you go. I had to file the hole and shaft of the item I'm using it on to make it fit. Many others say that a drill makes it bigger. The protective layer of foam that touches the countertop has also come loose. A little uncomfortable.

Exactly what I needed. Easily drillable for .5 " lamp base

This is a good, solid base. The base is not the .5" diameter required for many pop-up lamps, but is very easy to drill out . hole to fit these half inch light bulbs. An added bonus is a thumbscrew that allows you to hold the lamp in a specific position. Good value for money.

Hole 1/2 inch and less than 12mm are not the same.

Very well made but will not fit lamps with 1/2" plastic pins like those made circa 2000. I wanted to replace 2 of these, glad I tried that first Hole is very small Both pins are 13mm I drilled through but would rather just place the clamp on the table and lower the lamp into the socket.

It WILL NOT FIT 1/2 " lamp stem

I read all the reviews that said it doesn't fit the standard 1/2" lamp stem, they were right but I didn't seem to to have choice, since I needed such a device. I took out my handy drill bit and slightly enlarged the receiving hole. Now it works perfectly and you don't notice it. So if you have bits, a drill and 10 minutes, you can put them to work for you. Exactly what I needed. Easily drilled out to accommodate a 0.5 " lamp base

This is a good solid foundation. the diameter needed for many pivoting lamps, but it is very easy to drill a hole to make these half-inch lamps fit. An added bonus is a thumbscrew that allows you to hold the lamp in a specific position. Good value for money.

It will NOT fit a 1/2 inch thick lamp post.
