Key fobs should be new.

We found keychains to be very valuable. However, when they arrived, one of them was clearly used. It had a lot of scratches, the battery compartment was damaged and the locksmith had no trouble programming it. (Specialist locksmith is qualified and makes many keychains. If both were new the ratings would be higher, very disappointed.

Buy if you can program the buttons yourself

Buy if you can program the buttons yourself, programming these buttons requires a special tool. You have to take the car to a professional locker. Got an offer from a professional locker for $130. They did not guarantee that the keys will work as original. For this reason I returned the keys. I figured I could program myself since my dad had a 2011 Ford Explorer and my sister had a 2003 Mazda 6.

Works but not as it should

Bought and programmed with Dorman kit but not working properly. Every aspect of these fobs works except that the fob will not allow the car to start unless plugged into the key fob port on the dash of my 2010 Maxima. The Dorman key fob works as advertised (just needs to be included). I replaced the batteries in both as the ones supplied in the fobs tested had a lower voltage compared to the new batteries. Didn't make a difference. So they work, but not the way they should.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far

Works like the original

I lost a key fob and the other key fob no longer opened the doors and trunk of my 2011 Nissan Murano. I started the car, but only with the key in the ignition. I got a few quotes from locksmith dealers and the keys themselves were $100-$200 and that didn't include the necessary programming. I thought it was too good to be true when I bought them; Even the retailer I had the keys reprogrammed from said they didn't guarantee the Amazon keys would work. They worked like a charm. Please note theyโ€ฆ

Best value for money

Bought for a 2010 Infiniti FX35. The keys on my car can only be programmed by a specialist dealer or locksmith with the appropriate equipment. I was lucky that one of my local locksmiths was able to reprogram it. So make sure your key is capable of this as I suspect most dealers will refuse to reprogram aftermarket keys. That's why I gave the setup a 4 instead of a 5. Otherwise they are programmed fluently. As others have said I have also purchased keys with a transponder chip (2 spare keylessโ€ฆ

Perfect for adding extra remote controls, but.

We bought a used Infiniti Q40 that came with a smart key only. The dealer wants $300 to add another. I bought this (2) pack and took it to my local locksmith. If you have a working smart key, you can program it in just a few minutes. They wanted $85 for a one-on-one program or $125 for two. I made them both. One caveat, as pointed out by another reviewer, is that the genuine mechanical key they come with is not chipped. This is required in case your remote control battery dies and you need toโ€ฆ

Works great: Remotes

I bought these 2 remotes knowing I would need to program them into my car either by the dealer or an experienced locksmith. I went to a local trusted locksmith (Olympia WA) and I'm very pleased that they were able to program them easily. They charged me $40+tax for programming both sets of remotes/keys. You need at least one working original remote to program new remotes. To program the hard keys, I also bought them separately, copied and pasted them (2 replacement keyless keys, wirelessโ€ฆ
