Doesn't fit perfectly, but worked.

2009 4runner installation. Installation went smoothly, I wish the power and ground wires were thicker and the camera didn't fit perfectly. It took a bit of tinkering, but overall it worked.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Best camera - car electronics

Just installed today and I can only say wow. This product has excellent image quality and looks great on my 05 4Runner. I don't know how he's going to do it because it's day one but he seems well built. I love it and can only recommend it.

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • Modern

Good camera is good for car backup cameras

For 2004 Toyota 4Runner backup camera. This camera replaces one of the license plate lights. Spacers are needed to lower the camera and make small adjustments to the lid where the camera goes in, otherwise it won't fit in the space.

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • Difficult to say

Nice factory look. But not the most functional camera.

Advantages: Hidden in the license plate light so nothing can hit it and safe in the car wash etc. Choose the right one with a new bulb. At an odd angle if you feel like you're really going to use this for parallel parking.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Faulty

After installing it, I spent hours troubleshooting and spent more money.

After installation I spent hours troubleshooting and spent more money on test leads than the unit itself. The end result: the license plate lights work, but the camera doesn't. The part of the long cable that connects the reversing light to the radio doesn't work either. I wasn't able to test the video portion of this cable because the camera isn't working.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Okay, but read on to see why this might not be a good choice.

Good video quality, suitable . The depth of field is so shallow and unadjustable that you only see a small portion of the 4Runner and some of the ground! If I could find another brand that would match the lamp I would buy it. I just thought that not digging a hole is great, but not hitting a curb or dodging something is fine. You can only see 3 feet at probably 40'

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Stock availability

Works well, would like to adapt

Fits perfectly in Toyota license plate light hole. Wiring depends on your car, but can take hours depending on how much crap you have to remove and the fuss of catching the wire. Instructions are minimal but there are videos on YouTube. I recommend plugging it directly into a 12V source and a main unit before installing to ensure it works. Low-light visibility is also decent. The camera has a built-in overlay with familiar lines showing where you're going. Obviously these lines don't move when…

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Disappears
