I've been using SMDV RFN-4s wireless remote triggers for a few years and really like them. Small, relatively cheap, very light and they "just work". I own two of these. and I would buy them again tomorrow if they were lost or stolen. The RFN-4 WORKS with the D850 BUT due to the D850's silent shooting mode in Mup (Mirror Lock Up) mode, the D850 will NOT let you press the shutter button when in Live View mode with the RFN -4s are located. Wait As long as you want the camera/tripod shake to…

Pros
  • Locking cords
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Good product! Works great, small.

I recently purchased this remote control for my Nikon D800. When shooting on a tripod, any camera shake, even the slightest movement from gently squeezing the trigger, can blur the image, so it's important to use a remote shutter release to get the clearest, sharpest shots. I've always used a cord in the past, but it's very difficult to plug and screw a 10-pin plug into an outlet and then unplug it for handheld shooting. And again and again for a tripod and again and again for a walk. What's…

Better in every way! RFN-4s SMDV Wireless Remote Control

RFN-4s SMDV Wireless Remote Control I use mine on a Nikon D500: it works great! I love this remote control. I have made several thousand recordings with this remote control system. I shoot a lot of landscapes, nature, long telephoto lenses and long exposure night shots. One day mine suddenly stopped working. I replaced the "AAA cell" in the transmitter and everything was great again. Note: AA, AAA, Cs and D are "cells", not batteries. (See!) The maximum range I've used this system for is about…

I would give 5 stars if only it would fit!

It's a shame that this radio remote control didn't get 5 stars! Remote is great in many ways, but unfortunately it has a very big Achilles heel! The threaded locking ring that was meant to screw into the D500's 10-pin remote does not screw into the 10-pin socket as intended, and the plug can't always be pushed far enough to make the connection, so it works intermittently . . When it works right, it works great. The threaded ring on the receiver in my example only fits about 1/4 turn of the…

  • Improved (October 1, 2017) Receiver box has stronger pins and a more flexible antenna.
