the thing is too long to connect to the cigarette lighter, it falls out. Tried with adapter, same problem. What the heck, I mean, why do something that doesn't work with a cigarette lighter?

Others say regular fuses won't fit if you push them in the head with some force but put the spring in and it's fine after that . Don't run more than 8-10 amps or it will melt like a minute!

If you need that Uniden style power plug, this setup is your best bet. Ready to connect to an existing or available cigarette lighter socket or 12V power supply (after removing the cigarette lighter plug). Good wire gauge. Robust construction. WINNER!

The handle is too big for a regular (lighter) socket and pops out after a few minutes. Also, read the review on the related article stating that the fuse is not up to standard. I ended up cutting off the plug and replacing it with very old car stuff and replacing it with a built in (standard) fuse. The other end (a three prong connector) was worth saving, so I cut off the lighter end of the connector.

On my car, which has "sockets" instead of "cigarette lighter", this spring, which must be compressed to close the circuit, pushes the device back out of the socket and breaks the ground contact. I have to cut the wire going to the device and use the other, less strong end of the device connector that connects to the end that goes into the radio. Very disappointed.

Retractable. I had to cut off part of the cigarette lighter plug and put in a real one. Well in everything now that I hook it up and I have a lot of machines. Although it shouldn't.
