Description of 🎙️ Enhance Your Audio with Rode VideoMic NTG On-Camera Shotgun Microphone

Features the same revolutionary acoustic design as our NTG5 broadcast shotgun microphone, which delivers unmatched transparency and a natural, uncoloured sound. Designed for an incredibly flat frequency response, highly directional supercardioid polar pattern, and very low self-noise. Digital switching provides a high-pass filter, -20dB pad, high frequency boost, and safety channel, and a unique infinitely variable gain control precisely tailors the output needed. The auto-sensing 3. 5mm output detects what device you are connected to (camera or mobile) and switches to accommodate. Also a fully-featured USB microphone that can be plugged into a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Only the right channel works when the trrs cable is connected to the DSLR

Update: I bought another Rode VideoMic NTG On-Camera Shotgun Mic through B&H Photo, not Revain. I didn't have the same problem with it. This is highly suspicious to me because either Rode has inconsistent quality control issues or the mic sold through Revain is not genuine. The microphone I was having trouble with was distributed by Geartree. I have a brand new Sony a99ii. The cable that comes with the NTG is trrs-trrs. When trrs is connected to a DSLR, only the right channel plays audio.

Why isn't my microphone working?

I heard a lot of positive reviews about this product which was one of the reasons I decided to buy it. But the one I have is just awful. I have tweaked the camera audio settings MANY times, my mic is fully charged and I've played around with all the features and I even updated the mic on the website and the built in mic on the camera STILL GIVES ME THE BEST SOUND THAN THE MIC ITSELF! How is that even possible? Maybe I'm missing something or maybe the one they sent me is broken? I've spoken into

Excellent microphone, warranty information

Excellent microphone! I just wanted to point out one thing for anyone shopping on Amazon. Rode's website specifically states that anything sold on Amazon is NOT an authorized seller and you cannot register for the extended 10-year warranty on these mics. That being said, Kellards is itself an authorized seller, so even if you buy through Kellards the 10 year guarantee still honors it if you buy through Revain. At least that's what happened in my case. Just wanted others to know as I only saw…

Only 1 channel works when connected to the camera

Bought to connect to my Nikon P1000. Sounds great when it works, but in most cases one of the audio channels will be completely muted or toggled on and off during tracking. Malfunction of the Rode 3.5mm cable or the jack that the 3.5mm audio cable is connected to. When I press and hold the 3.5mm cable properly, both channels of audio are recorded and work fine. But any movement or wiggle of the cable, and one of the channels will shut down, rendering it completely unusable. Both channels work…

Video or podcasting - one microphone for everyone! (+ connection via XLR)

Long argued about this microphone. I liked the idea of using it in analog mode, plugging it directly into my field recorder, camera or phone, and being able to connect it digitally via USB directly to my computer. However, my main use is my field recorder and I would prefer an XLR connector rather than a 3.5mm TRS/TRRS connector. I happen to have a Rode VXLR+ that converts XLR to 3.5mm and converts phantom power to "plug-in power" so I decided to give the mic a try. It didn't work at first and…

This is a super versatile mic that works great with anything

I love this mic! Sounds good, low noise, very directional. Since I've had it, I've been using it for all my video conferences. I have it on the mic boom right above my head at 12-18 inches and it sounds very nice and clear. Allowed me to stop wearing headphones during conferences, I could only output the audio through the speakers. In addition, you can use the microphone as a USB device from a PC or connect an analog TRS or TRRS cable, it automatically detects the connection configuration, so…

  • Free for educational use

The (almost) perfect gun mic

Tl;dr: This is a Rode masterpiece, a marvel for anyone who is yet to make the switch to XLR spring mics but still wants a unit of amazing quality. , but there will be some features for special use cases (voice-over, streaming and podcasts) that would make it a jack of all trades gun mics. So here's the thing, this mic is a real workhorse, ready for most scenarios and use cases, from streaming to vlogging, interview recording to the point where you can use it live (with some caveats), this mic…
