So far so good.: Lenses

Opened an hour ago and played around with the lens, very impressed. It's very easy to control, the sharpness is excellent, the background blur is beautiful. I've seen much more expensive lenses fail. I bought this lens to take some astro photos while on vacation in a few weeks, but I can see that it's a very versatile lens for portraits as well. Used on my Sony a6000. I'll try to remember to tell you more in a few weeks. .

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Legacy model

It offers a very good angle of view for street photography

As mentioned, this is a very sharp lens. Much sharper IMHO than the budget autofocus options for the APS-C Emount. This provides a very good angle for street photography. And the depth of field at F1.4 is surprisingly shallow, making for interesting close-up shots. Thought to at least try this lens as the money is a bit more expensive than 'close' competitors. But it will stay in my bag along with my 12mm F2. I am finally satisfied with my collection in the broadest sense.

Pros
  • Useful for more than it's intended purpose
Cons

A great addition to the E-mount range.

Used for a few days but did some testing on my A6000. Manual focus is very smooth and comfortable. With the aperture wide open, the lens is good throughout the frame. Stopped at 2.0 middle goes from good to great. Far angles improve in the f4 to f8 range to really excellent results. I have a Sigma 19mm which will be a close competitor. There was no competition when comparing these two lenses. The edges of the Sigma 19mm lens are blurry at f2.8 compared to the Rokinon, and even when stopped down

  • New to my collection

infinity somewhere.

This is a sharp lens, build quality is good. However, infinity on the focus ring is not infinity. Therefore, you need to adjust and fine-tune the distance even in the landscape or when the distance is more than 2 meters. The focus ring is delicate, making it easy to touch and change, resulting in blurry images. That's the Rokinon problem I have with their otherwise sharp 12mm lens too: infinity somewhere, but not where the focus ring stops. Very annoying. Sony just doesn't have a good 20mm…

Outstanding image resolution.

This lens looks solid and well designed. The focus control ring is well cushioned but has little play when trying to focus sharply and the image moves very little between turning the focus ring clockwise and counter-clockwise. Focus at infinity corresponds to the marker. The aperture ring is well-damped and comfortable to use. While there is some degree of chromatic aberration - in both magenta and green - it's easy to remove in post-processing, but detracts from image sharpness in those areas.

8 quite hot, maybe even as hot

Cons: It looks cheap and doesn't fit as tight as I was hoping. When installed, the lenses have an easy time. BUT like all my fitted lenses, so it's not that big of a deal. Pros: Sharper than any other lens I own. Sony 50 1.8 is pretty sharp, maybe just as sharp. Of course, the lens has a manual focus, no problem for a camera with focus peaking. At f8 and set to infinity, everything is very sharp anyway, so you don't even have to focus on something a few meters away. Sony's crop sensor is…

One of the best options at this focal length for Apsc

I am very impressed with the optical quality and overall build quality. In terms of optics and image quality, I can say that this is the best lens you can get with the Fuji x-mount 21-23mm. The Fuji 23 f1.4, based on what I've seen, is wide openly softer and may have more optical design flaws. Considering that the optical designs of the Fuji 23 and 35 f1.4 are much older and the autofocus motors make them completely unusable for video, the options are simply limited to the viltrox 23 1.4…

Exclusively! in SLR camera lenses

Most lenses have one aspect that really makes you think you need to do more research before buying. It was one of my easiest decisions as I read review after review praising its performance and was looking for exceptional performance regardless of the price. I am happy to say that I was blown away by this lens. From corner to corner, the sharpness is the best of any "wide angle" lens I've seen across the entire aperture range up to F8. While it's a fast lens and you'll often have to stop it in…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
