Breaking my line of great Roku products

The Roku has been my favorite media streaming device for almost 6 years, but this is the first time I've been disappointed with it. To be honest, when it works, Premiere+ is great. Picture and sound quality are excellent and 4k HDR content looks fantastic, if not as sharp as Blu Ray's 4k HDR. And to be honest, it mostly works. However, that seems like too much trouble to me. I haven't recorded the success but it seems that at least 3-4 times a week I turn on my AV system and no signal comes out

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons

Doesn't work with receiver

Not a great customer experience with Roku. First I ordered Premiere Plus. I didn't get it when I ordered it, but there's no separate audio out, only HDMI (which shouldn't have been a problem). I set up surround sound for audio so I tried to connect using the HDMI ports on my receiver. For some reason, Roku didn't work when connected through the receiver. It worked when plugged directly into the TV, but I'm not a fan of TV audio. After several painful conversations with their tech support I was…

Exceeded expectations! Roku has done it again!

This is my second Roku product that I have owned and it still hasn't disappointed! If you have an HD or 4K TV, this is perfect for you. The resolution is amazing, there is no buffering or lag when switching between apps, everything is fine. Pros: Great picture quality, easy setup, simple design, fast Wi-Fi connection, smooth streaming, brighter colors (compared to my HDTV built into the Hulu app and the Roku Hulu app, and there's a big difference in color brightness), the remote app is still…

4K UHD Not prime time ready

I bought a Roku Premiere+ for my main TV (Samsung UN65KS9000) when I reassigned my Roku 3 to another room. Both Rokus are great products. Here's my take: Roku Premier+ is faster than Roku 3. If you're a speed freak and can't wait, Roku Premiere+ is for you. UHD 4K is harder than it should be, and it's not. When you get there it's not worth it. When you first install Roku Premiere + Roku, it will check your HDMI connection and ask if you want to use the detected resolution. Roku has discovered…

Great device, I only have a few nits to choose from.

I bought this Roku Premiere+ for a number of reasons. We have a Sony Blu-ray player with Smart TV capabilities that we've used for years to watch Netflix, Revain, Hulu, etc. The experience was good, although the apps weren't updated very often to support new features (but the damn thing was connecting to Sony to see updated versions of the app EVERY TIME you launch the app, a lot aggravating). The device is getting old and had to be restarted every few weeks. It got slower and slower. Still…

(by Papa in Co.) Summary: Wow. We're about to "cut the cord" and we bought three of these (one for each TV) and paired them with a Tablo OTA DVR for live TV. What an amazing combination. The only confusion was the TV streaming over Wi-Fi. See below for details. Detail: After installing Tablo, I installed three Roku devices. I have two of them and one connected via WiFi. Rokus works great and the Rokus tablo interface is fantastic. You can read my Tablo review for more details on this device…

Old dogs CAN learn new tricks

Reason for purchase. We've been using cable to watch TV and movies for over 40 years. We tried to limit our cable service to the internet and we had to replace our access to television and movies. Many have already switched, many have never had a cable. Streaming services seem to be more mature, so I took the plunge. I've explored many different streaming devices but settled on Roku. I bought a Roku Premiere+ (for ethernet input) and 2 streaming sticks. Duration of use - 1 month. The setup is…
