This is exactly what I wanted for my craft project. A group of us make tropical bluebells. We use coconut shells as a coating. We drill holes to thread the bells and add a hanging hook at the top. The seller was active so that I received the package on time.

The description photo clearly shows the horizontal cut (across the fibers) on the shells. We received shells cut vertically (along the fibers). It doesn't work for our project. Sellers should ALWAYS ensure that the description photos match what the buyer will receive. This is the basis of online shopping. Very disappointed.

The size was perfect and they were very clean. I am very happy to find this item! Kindermusick used to sell coconut shells for sound effects, but they were much more expensive. This is a great budget option. Get more as they are real coconut shells and cracked with love from preschoolers.

Until I cut a hole I never realized how hard and thick a coconut shell is! These are good, clean, uniformly sized bowls large enough for most resident fish, including dwarf cichlids. Mine were darker than pictured and all they needed was a door. For the hole, I drew about a 2 inch flat bottomed circle. I tried a hand saw first but it didn't work so I used a dremel cutting blade, scored it and went over it a few times. Unlike wood, they sink instantly and will likely last forever.
