Excellent mounting bracket

Excellent mounting bracket but 1 rubber mounting sleeve is not internally threaded. I had to use the butterfly switch to complete the installation. It was a complete omission in quality control. It took me a little longer to change this issue. I installed a UNIDEN PRO 520 and it worked great on a 2003 Jeep TJ.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • So far so good

You have to drill. Details

While this product does the job, it requires additional hardware to function properly. First you need to drill out the rivets in the windshield frame. BUT DO NOT USE A 3/8” DRILL. Instead, throw those cheap nuts out of the beer fountain and buy a nut with the right size rivets (Nusssert). Drill the correct size hole for the rivet being used. Also, it's a decent mount for a small Jeep CB radio. If you use rubber nuts it will fail and your CB will fall, hope this helps.

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Negative

This mount worked pretty well for me, although I had to trim the plastic around the frame to accommodate the CB. I used a drill of the size indicated in the instructions and had no problems with the rubber inserts. Losing the leg strap causes some problems if you have a bikini top that attaches to it, but I was able to attach this strap to this mount. Overall it fits a lot better here than being wedged between the driver and the door on the dash with other available mounts.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Save your money, don't buy this junk.

I bought this some time ago and finally got around to installing it today. Despite the fact that the packaging and advertising say you can't drill, you will have to dig in your 04' TJ. Then he instructs you to drill a 3/8 bit. I thought it's ok, it's not the first time I've put a drill on my jeep. As you can see in the photo the rubber bolt fitted and the other fell through and fell apart even though it was exactly the size of the hole and I had good thread. The hardware is junk and out of…

I would advise against purchasing this item.

I usually like Rigged Ridge products; I've been buying from them for 14 years. However, this product leaves a lot to be desired. Not only does the product falsely advertise "do not drill," but the instructions clearly state to drill 3/8" holes in the windshield hinge (Grade A steel). weak to hold the CB radio and radio mount. The instructions also say to peel off the transparent film to reveal the tape which isn't there. I'm assuming it's on all mounts as I had to buy a second one to damage the

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

too much money for what you get!

Please note you will need to drill to install this on the TJ although it is not listed on the seller's page or on the box it comes in! The rubber inserts that come with fitting are patchy at best and I'm afraid they will spoil quickly from excessive heat and cold in the car, a visit to the hardware store for some suitable nuts should solve the problem but the price of this stuff is pretty funny. The instructions also say how to remove the backing from the tape, it has none, just foam padding to

Pros
  • Pretty impressive

  • dull packaging

Bracket overpriced.

Installed this in my 06 TJ in about an hour. I suggest drilling two holes in the bottom of the bracket and attaching it to the windshield frame as shown in the attached photo. This helps secure the control box as the nuts provided are insufficient to hold it in place; Also, I'll probably buy some threaded inserts and replace the nuts that came with them as they won't fit. Here's a tip: Use a regular 3/8" drill bit to drill the factory rivets holding the minion loop, use a center punch to drive…
