Description of ๐Ÿ’ง High-Performing Corded 110V AC Submersible Sump / Utility Pump - Rule A53 Series - 1800 GPH

A genuine Rule product, don't settle for anything less. Designed to remove water from basements, garages, stairwells, utility rooms, and other utility applications, compact, efficient, long-life motor. Totally submersible, silent and vibration free operation, rust and corrosion proof, snap-off strainer for easy cleaning. Heavy-duty thermoplastic housing protects pump from the most adverse conditions. Using this pump as a pool cover pump voids the warranty, it should not be used to prevent water from accumulating on top of a pool cover. Never runs dry, turns off automatically when pumping is complete or if impeller becomes jammed.

Reliable pump with fully functional water sensor

Have been buying Rule pumps for almost 20 years and I can Say I keep coming back because they are as good as can be when you need a pump that will last until the water level drops to an acceptable level and you are willing to replace every five years or so. Let's focus on this one for now, our latest in a string of purchases over the past 20 years. Please note that using these pumps to dehumidify pool decks will void Rule's warranty. I suspect the fallen leaves on the pool cover are smallโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Designed to drain water from basements, garages, stairwells, utility rooms and other utility rooms, compact, economical, long life motor

Advantages: Automatic operation

a decade. I also use it to drain a hot tub once or twice a year. Pros: Automatic operation, good performance, easy to deploy and use. Truly fully submersible. The Bad: I rarely last more than 3 years on a pump, and often only 2 before it fails, usually due to repeated GFI flushes. There is a small error warning so you end up with water on the pool cover and the pump won't work until I get a new one. Pros
  • Fully submersible, silent operation without vibration, protection against rust and corrosion, removable screen for easy cleaning

Excellent after-sales service for a failed pump

Pump is expensive but seems to work well. I bought one a year ago that lasted a couple of seasons and this year decided it will no longer work. I use it as an AB pool cover pump. The original replacement I bought last week failed. He refused to even turn on. This effectively disabled the GFCI exit in the pool. I tried plugging it into a second outlet in the shed and it popped out of the GFCI outlet too. Decided to try the last socket on deck and it worked. 3 strikes and you're out. I contactedโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Never runs dry, shuts off automatically when pumping stops or if impeller seizes
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Because I have had several of these over the past 10 years that have been used to remove water from pool covers. If the one I bought is ok. Passed 5 years ago, bought new. The one I bought has a very short cord and doesn't come with a base to properly mount it on the pool cover (luckily I had some spares from previous pumps that broke down). Note that Rule is now offering this model with a 24-foot cord for an additional $30, and the base can be purchased for $28. These factors make this pumpโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Using this pump as a pool cover pump will void your warranty, it cannot be used to prevent water from building up on the surface of the pool cover collects
Cons
  • Obsolete model
