Ryobi 039066005054 Platen Assembly Sanders Review

Fits my ryobi grinder perfectly. Installation was easy (just a few screws). The terminals have a much thicker wire than the original. The only issue I have is that the spacer may be too thick as 1/4 sheets won't fit. They barely fit under the collar, but then fall out immediately when you start grinding. I've found that I have to cut off another 1/4 inch of sandpaper (meaning you only get 2 per sheet) to get a secure fit that stays in place. I'm sure the rosette will flatten out a bit over time

Many reviews say that the pad is too thick and the average size of sandpaper doesn't work. It wasn't a problem for me. Maybe people just get it wrong? Replacing the original took about 2 minutes. And that includes the time it took me to remember where I left my little Phillips screwdriver. What I like best is that the 3M non-slip sheets you find at most hardware stores won't stick to this molding just like the original molding, it will peel off in big chunks when you replace them. My old Craftsman sander was wearing out: the clamps weren't strong enough to hold the sandpaper, causing the paper to "wander" off the roller.
