We bought and installed one of these goals and it was great. Pretty easy for us to install and very easy to open for adults but sturdy for kids. We bought this gate as a second line of defense to fit the inside of the door into our basement (in case the door was accidentally left open). For this purpose it is ideal. I love that the gate opens and swings in every direction making it easier for adults to go up and down stairs with laundry etc. Also, they're pretty strong and I doubt a toddler would find a way to push through this gate. UPDATE: I bought 2 more goals after writing this review. The second is good, the third quickly broke down. The upper part has broken off and is therefore completely unusable. It was an "open box" and when opened it was missing the bottom parts, although I got it working with spare parts. My mistake is that I ordered an open box. I like this gate the most, installation was easy, closing/latching worked great; for a day. Now the lock won't open anymore. I have to open the bolt with tape to even use it. And the company hasn't responded to my email since Monday morning. I'm not too impressed with the customer service either! (I don't know why the picture is crooked. Once installed, these gates are easier to use than old wooden gates. The baby gate was a little tricky to install and had to be attached very securely in order for the automatic locking mechanism to sit flush and work.
