Fire Hazard - Computer Accessories & Peripherals

Bit of a bummer, I don't recommend it to anyone. I plugged it in to transfer some files, they were big files so I left it running. When I came back two hours later, the thing was so hot it was starting to melt. I'm just glad it didn't catch fire while I was away. Stay away from this product!

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • too dumb

Your computer will see it as a hub

Can't complain about the price, but this reader is a hub device. I bought it to use as a dedicated reader on not very smart hardware. and do not know what to do with the hub. Because of this, my storage device is not showing up. I will keep it because I can use a multi reader. but i wish the description said it was a hub like some other reader lists.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Compact, convenient, fast!

Uploading/backing up high definition video files can be a test of patience. And sometimes the time it takes to upload large files is critical. I bought a Saicoo USB3.0 card reader to instantly backup large digital photo/video files. I compared the Saicoo USB3.0 reader to my USB2.0 reader and was able to unload my CF card less than twice as fast as with the Saicoo card reader. I shoot in both CF and microSD format, so being able to read multiple cards is also a big plus. I've been using it for…

Super handy that it accepts different types of cards (SF

Does the job! For some reason the footage folder doesn't show up when I used the camera's USB cable (Canon DSLR 5D Mark II), when i use the file recovery software (usb cable is used to transfer footage from camera with card inside to computer) i bought this card reader and it solved the problem i wish the small cable was longer, so it doesn't dangle when plugged in, but it was a cheaper option compared to others and that's what I was willing to put up with Super handy that it supports different

The transmission speed is good and the card works reliably

I tested this card reader with a CF card and two SD cards. Transmission speed is good. Addendum: I've been using this card reader for a few weeks now. I had to change my rating from the original 5 stars to 3 stars because the card reader might turn off accidentally. Sometimes the connection gets lost shortly after connecting. Sometimes it seems longer. If the connection drops, I have to unplug it and then plug it back in. Second Tracking After the previous tracking, Saicoo offered to send me…

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Waiting too long

Do not trust this device to read CF card. .

Don't trust this CF card reader. The guides that align with your CF card are made of soft plastic and do not always align the holes in the CF card with the pins in the reader. As a result, contacts are bent and data is lost. When I looked at the CF port, I realized what had happened. It is well known in material development that two sliding surfaces should NEVER be made of the same material, especially two soft materials. So the guide slots in the CF hang from the thin, soft plastic guides in…

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Long delivery time

as the pins are easy to bend, add

(original post) I should return it, it's weak when you use CF cards in your camera as the pins bend easily. Also, the computer always gives me a driver error message when I plug it in. NOTE: I will double check this review but am already changing it to 4 stars simply because Saicoo contacted me and sent a new one to replace the other. Most likely the CF card part will still be an issue as it is not designed to use the CF card the way it could be. The only reason I didn't return it was because…

returned; lots of problems with it.

UPDATE x3: The manufacturer was very kind and offered a replacement. The cable doesn't exit the USB port, for which I'm upping the rating. I noticed that they also specifically stated that 5 'different' cards can work - I'm a little disappointed that the same type of card can't work at the same time, but I'm glad their customer service was so accurate. UPDATE x2: I'm chatting with support. They communicated well with me, for which I am very grateful. I'll let you know how it goes. UPDATE: I…
