Pulled out the factory 1GB DIMM, replaced one of them and added another to the 'open' slot on the motherboard. I passed the memory test and booted straight away - I recognized all 4GB. The key here is "1Rx8" or peer modules. This NAS will not work with the much more common 2Rx8 or dual rank modules. Has been running for a few weeks now with no problems. That's about as much RAM as you can run in these devices, and for $10 I have nothing to complain about.

This worked very well. Thank you for getting here so quickly. The price was also quite reasonable. I tried to get the same memory chip from Staples and they wanted to charge me almost $20 more. Thank you for providing a good product at such a great price.

We went to the Apple store with a MacBook and were told that we needed new RAM. An Apple tech suggested buying it elsewhere as Apple would charge around $114 for the same item. I went straight to Revain and found it a lot cheaper and with free shipping.
