Very fast, feels solid, quite small and flies with Type-C USB 3.1

So fast! So small! I have two T3 SSDs - 500GB and 250GB. It is great! Copying files from my laptop to the drive is very fast, even with very large Photoshop and video files. An SSD is much faster than the old spinning drives. The T3 is a lot smaller than WD and Seagate portable (spinning) drives and looks a lot more reliable. If your laptop has a USB 3.1 Type-C port, I highly recommend getting the J5 Create 2.3. USB 3.1 Type-C to Type-C coaxial cable (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B3N3VYE) toโ€ฆ

Fast enough for editing 1080p video

The Samsung T3 500GB USB 3.0 SSD is a small device (smaller than a deck of cards) with high speed. The body of the device is a combination of black plastic and gray bronze metal. It features a mini USB-C connector and an included standard USB 3.0 cable that works with USB 3.0/USB 2.0 devices such as laptops or desktops. I edit video on my 13-inch year-old Macbook Pro using Final Cut X (yes, the screen size is a little tight), and the drive is fast enough to edit 1080p/30fps 4:2:2 video to getโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Not cheap, but decent
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.

Didn't get advertised speed, crashed and eventually failed.

I have a Samsung T1 SSD and a Samsung T3 SSD, both 1TB. I've used them to edit audio, photos, and videos on the go. Pros: They are small and light. Cons: The T3 came with a cable that wasn't USB 3.0 compatible. I had to buy a cable to get the correct speeds, not just 2.0 speeds. - After about a year of use, it started disconnecting intermittently and then reconnecting. I swapped cables (many times - actually wasted money buying 3-4 cables and some of them were high quality so I threw anotherโ€ฆ

Great portable storage product.

UPDATE - Strangely my T3 is now running at the same speed as my T1. Any performance issues my device had when I first used it are now gone. Maybe some early wear leveling? I'll update my YouTube review to reflect the changes and upload everything here as well. The appearance of the Samsung T3 has been improved compared to the previous version of the product. It's snow metal and much more durable, it features a reversible USB Type-C connector, and it now works out of the box with no additionalโ€ฆ

40MB/s:----- -------- - --Updated April 26, 2016 ----------------I've changed my score to 5 to reflect additional testing I performed to bust the Macbook speed limit myth. After consulting the Apple forum, I got the answer that I might need a USB 3.0 USB-C to USB-C cable. So I did a search and the ONLY cable that mentions USB 3.1 10Gb/s support is from Belkin: The Belkin 3-Foot 3.1 USB Type C (USB-C) is a USB Type C USB-C Certified Cable. And I tested with a Macbook, it correctly recognized the

Amazing virtual machine performance

Due to budget constraints I had to fight to get a 128GB Retina MacBook Pro and a 500GB Samsung T3 compared to a 256GB MacBook Pro for the web usage. You can google any number of websites that will tell you that 128GB is too small for development. Luckily for me, the Samsung T3 confirmed my choice of 128 GB of onboard storage. When using Parallels desktop, Win8.1 starts about 3 seconds after full shutdown or about 1 second after suspend, and it also takes about 1 second to suspend Win8.1. Noโ€ฆ
