This actuator works as advertised. It's fast and compatible. Mine is NTFS formatted and encrypted with BitLocker. My cat ignored the disk until I put the tip on it - now I have to protect the tip from my cat. Update: overall rating downgraded to four stars. While the drive continues to run as advertised, the slider will become detached from the drive itself. This makes it very difficult to plug a drive into a narrow USB port (on either end).

1) What is the remaining 14 GB used for? Truth? That little thing aside (probably), I've read all these reviews that the transfer speed is pretty good. But I don't experience it. The drive always starts with a burst of speed when writing and then slows down to almost a standstill after a few seconds. 2) The assembly isn't very good, it's just cheap "squeaky" plastic; One weird day just squeezing a little harder than usual would probably break it. Works great but if you're not good with gadgets you'll have to scrap it as it doesn't come with detailed instructions. However, I had no problems. It uploads photos from my phone very well, but it's a slow upload. The only thing that confuses me is that it is almost impossible to attach the tip from the kit - the holes you need to thread the thread are very small so the tip is a waste of time. Also, I love it! It's nice to have a reliable backup of my smartphone photos.

For some reason it comes in FAT32 format. Formatted in NTFS. Both connections work very well and offer fast data transfers. But tying the lace was difficult. There should be a threading tool or a lighter tip. The build doesn't feel as solid as many USB devices I've owned, but it's good enough for office use. I bought this for two reasons: (1) Compatible with older USB ports on older devices as well as the new USB-C port. (2) Large capacity. and high transmission speed. I'm happy with both aspects - works well on every device I've tried and the transfer speeds are faster than any other USB stick I have. Would definitely buy again if I need more capacity.

The slide mechanism will loosen up a little after a bit of use, but if you keep your thumb on the latch when inserting, a good connection guaranteed . Sometimes when I forget the mechanism or maybe don't fully deploy and lock, I have to fiddle around a bit. I don't usually think about it and have no problems, so it could be me or just some ports that have higher resistance when inserting.
