I bought this SSD for a mid 2012 Macbook Pro and it was as easy to install as any hard drive; I used the same process as numerous hard drive replacements. I'm using an external HD enclosure with a regular hard drive for backup. To install this SSD, I first installed it in the same enclosure and used Disk Utility to erase and reformat the drive.
