Disappointed that the camera is not held in a vertical position

I have been using the SLIK tripod for 35 years and have never had a problem with it. Unfortunately, someone recently knocked it over and broke their head. I wanted a 3-way head again, but the new heads have two handles (I only had one) so I bought this compact SLIK SBH-120 DQ ball head. It works well with my Nikon D90 in landscape mode. However, when I rotate the camera to take vertical shots, the camera slides off the cork pad and rotates downward. I'm very disappointed and will now have toโ€ฆ

I like the quick release and the compact size.

I have the venerable Velbon travel tripod #343E. I was thinking of some modern travel tripods that cost a little over $100, but looking at the stats the only thing they have compared to Velbon is a quick release buckle and a slightly more compact size to carry. The Velbon 343E has served me well and this Slik ball head was the only quick release compact head available at a reasonable price. That works great! I simply unscrewed the Velbon ball head and replaced it with a slick. The Slik worksโ€ฆ

Almost perfect - just replace the cork pad with a grippier alternative

I bought this to mount my Sony Alpha 55 camera on a Manfrotto monopod. It fits perfectly on the monopod and the quick release mechanism is very trustworthy. I've never worried about it showing up and my camera with a 'new' (actually 'like new' from Revain inventory is a great place to find great deals!) 18-200 lens drops. The reason I attached the star is because it was almost impossible to get the quick release plate to stay on the camera. I understand that the weight of the lens canโ€ฆ

Great way to mount projectors for Halloween.

I used some of these to set up the projectors for Halloween. You can find the right size screw at your local hardware store and make a simple bracket using 2x4 parts and a screw bit. I attach a quick release plate to the bottom of the projector so it can be removed every night and you can lock the base at the right angle so people can easily hook it in and out every night. I use them because they're the cheapest versions I could find, but they're pretty expensive, especially since we use themโ€ฆ

Low ball head - suitable for specific purposes.

I bought this ball head after using a Slik Lighty Pod III. The monopod is nice and light, just right for travel, and has a ball head, but you have to screw the ball head into the camera tripod mount, which is quite cumbersome. Screw on the monopod and it will be much easier to use and carry. The Lighty Pod comes with a model SBH-100 ball head, so the SBH-100 DQ is a quick-release version of the same ball head. Unfortunately, you can't buy a monopod with a quick-change head option; You need toโ€ฆ
