Type of review

Kerdi can get very thick when you add inside/outside corners and those penetration seals. Some installers splice Kerdi panels end-to-end and use Kerdi tape to join them together to minimize thickness increase. It would have been a much better product if he had used the Kerdi strap.

Works great - no leaks!

In 2010 I replaced a leaky shower with a custom tile unit with a Schlueter shower system (try saying that five times faster!) and was quite impressed. This is a very well thought out line of products that makes it easy to go waterproof which is the only thing you need trust me. Check out the free DVD or online video if you're considering building your own tile shower. good protection from potential problems

I did not purchase this for use in a Kurdi system. I actually use HardiBacker which is covered by Hydroban. It seems logical to me that the most likely place for water to enter behind your system would be running down the wall surface and then past the pads covering the hot and cold pipe inlets. Often the opening around these two holes is too large for a good seal. So the water will most likely flow through these pipe passages and then end up in your wall.
