Ideal replacement for turning off the water heater.

A construction worker installed EXACTLY the same switch next to the water heater when the house was built 21 years ago. I recently noticed the switch getting a bit warm so I replaced it with this one. The old one still worked fine, but after 21 years and for about $13, it was easy to replace. This new derailleur is unchanged from the old one 21 years later so should be a good workhorse. Rather than removing the old box and reinserting the wires, I was able to simply replace the internal switch…

Excellent long lasting cutter

I bought this to replace a 20 year old circuit breaker/cutter hammer as the plastic was brittle and warped resulting in overheating due to a bad connection. This box is great because there are no plastic joints or fasteners inside, so there's no chance of repeated failure. I recommend buying this (comparatively) more powerful circuit breaker compared to other brands. If something goes wrong with the circuit breaker you can replace it with a circuit breaker that is the right size and square…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • There are new competitors

I've tried four times to insert the load wires, working with 8ga stranded wire, in a position where I can't see the terminal hole, but I haven't been able to grab them yet. I don't understand why the two wires don't go into the clamp after loosening the screws far enough to fully open the clamp while holding the screw down (nothing keeps it open when the screw is loosened). I made my living as a mechanic, so I kind of understand…
