These are hard to find and often overlooked by designers of RepRap-style 3D printers. 2mm lead 2mm beginning. It seems that most homemade and cheap Prusa i3 derivatives use the more common 4-start leadscrews, sacrificing more Z-axis accuracy for some reason I don't understand. If you buy lead screws yourself, then these are the ones you need.

Pros
  • 8mm Lead

Not exactly! on linear lead screws

I bought these for my 3D printer. The details looked great. Very easy. However, I had severe Z streaks. After checking the rest of the machine, I mounted a travel indicator on the Z axis and mapped the lead screws. The step turned out to be correct, but each round the move was wrong. Basically, the advance is too small for the first half of the revolution and too large for the second half. Looks like the lead screw is bent on the lathe that made these lead screws. I replaced the Hictop…

Pros
  • diameter 8mm
Cons
  • wrinkled packaging

Improvement on the M8 threaded rod for 3D printing

Easy to find quickly (e.g. 8mm four-start pitch, meaning the nut moves 8mm along the rod for each revolution ), but their precision (single launch, 2mm pitch) T8 threaded rod which I found much harder to find, especially in the US. Useful for 3D printers as an improvement over the M8 threaded rod due to the significantly less play, although changing the pitch means you'll have to rebuild the firmware to change the number of steps per mm relative to the 1.25mm pitch of the adapt M8. Please note…

Pros
  • Length 400mm
Cons
  • Pack for drilling
