Antenna - Terrestrial Signals

For various reasons I put off the switch to cable, disc or internet TV and ended up using an old terrestrial antenna as my antenna. temporary solution. I was having reception problems with my old rabbit ears and read that this Phillips Passive Enhanced Digital Antenna improved "an order of magnitude". Yes, the reception is much better, it takes up less space (very compact) and it's easy to install. It's not immune to interference from nearby lighting and other weather conditions, but it's a…

Overall best thing I've tried

I use an attic antenna for 7 out of 8 of my TVs, but the one I use for my Directv setup needs a separate antenna for local channels me do not subscribe to locals via directv. So far I have tried at least 5 different antennas and all had problems. I had to constantly rearrange antenna bunny ears and antenna pointing for different stations, even though all stations are in line of sight and within a few hundred yards of each other. This antenna was by far the best of them all. I hooked it up to my

Doesn't work for me

I live 8 or 9 miles from the main transmission towers here in Houston. Antennaweb.org said I didn't need a very sophisticated antenna, so I ordered one along with the digital network tuner HDHomerun, which allows you to watch TV and record from computers on the network using Windows Media Center built into Windows 7 and Vista. I don't know how sensitive the HDHomerun tuner is, so it might have an impact on the level readings I'm getting. Also, there are a lot of trees around and I have no idea…

Ideal for digital television. The Best TV Antennas

When digital TV became the 'norm' I figured my little bunny ears would have nailed it. Although not all channels played, I was able to select the one I really wanted to watch. I had a small digital TV in our office that I only watched a few programs on. Somehow the stations changed their signals and only one station passed - of course not the one I actually wanted to see. I saw a Philips antenna on the internet and thought it might work for me. We're about 17 miles from the towers (no hills or…

It really works - TV antennas

Small and unobtrusive. Approximately 6.25" tall, 6.5" wide and 1/2" thick when unfolded, not including 3ft bunny ears. If you're trying to set up VHF channels, I don't see how it could be any better than any other bunny. ears, but for UHF that's excellent. The HDHomeRun tuner allows me to easily and consistently receive 118 (mostly useless) channels with an antenna in the back of the apartment 20 feet from the nearest window, without too only going to broadcast towers 20 miles away. Previous…

Not So Good: Antennas

This antenna isn't a radical style or space-saving upgrade from more traditional bunny ear designs. I've tried at least 5 antennas and this one turned out to be second to last. I started with dollar store bunny ears, they worked amazingly well, but I had nowhere to put them and they fell apart (I liked this antenna so much I resoldered it and used it in another room with an old TV). . I then bought a Terk HDTVa Boosted Indoor HDTVa Antenna for off air HDTV reception, this antenna worked even…

Pros
  • Easy Install
Cons
  • No Automatic

This is a comparison between Philips SDV5122/27 (amplified) and SDV2710/27 (passive, shown on this page) . The boosted SDV5122/27 (meaning you have to plug it into a 120V outlet) isn't much better, if anything, than the passive (powerless) Philips SDV2710/27 antenna. Comparison - same location (window), same TV, same day (15 minutes straight), clear weather Location - about 21 miles from the transmitters, ground floor window overlooking the transmitters. Feature - For UHF signals/transmitters…
