Changed push button switch to Evinrude 9.5 hp.

Ideal replacement for the stock pressure switch on Evinrude 9.5 HP outboards. Now I have a man overboard line. The switch has a strange double knob. But it works. You can turn off the engine by pressing the red button, or you can just fall out of the boat and rip the cable from the engine. Definitely kill the engine! Good upgrade.

Pros
  • Value for money
Cons
  • Modern

I connected this unit with one wire to the ignition and the other to the M connector as the instructions require. The wires got so hot I couldn't touch them. I ended up hooking up my old kill switch and it worked fine. Not sure if I wired it wrong or was the thing bad to begin with?

Installed on a kayak under a trolling motor!

Everything is ready, connected and used on my kayak to turn off the trolling motor. The current is connected to the ignition side and cuts off the power supply to the battery the moment the cable is pulled. Exactly as advertised. If you use it this way you will need to connect it to a relay switch as it is a low amperage switch. A simple SPST relay works great when connected to the "I" terminals.

  • Delivery was very fast

Great addition to my engine.

Works great and installed quickly on my 1985 Mercury 7.5. I had to add a few wires, but they fit perfectly in the bearing hole, and I liked that it had an ignition off or magneto off function because I wasn't sure which one I needed at the time of ordering. Having the added security of a sling is a great idea. Of course, when you first start the engine, don't forget that you've added a belt. :)

Inexpensive small outboard motor kill switch with quality control issues.

I installed this derailleur on my Yamaha 8 HT outboard and although it fits perfectly the derailleur functionality is poor. I have to press the red button very hard and repeatedly to turn off the engine. The switch worked fine for the first three or four uses the day I installed it, but after that first day the red "stop engine" button function became less and less reliable. Maybe I just got a bad copy of this product and most of them are good. The official Yamaha derailleur looks the same and…

Apparently. Direct OEM replacement

After reviewing a range of marine accessories and looking at prices everywhere I checked out the Revain and found this shifter which was almost identical to the old shifter on my 1996 Evinrude 8hp 2 cylinder outboard . I was most concerned about the mount, and luckily this shifter fit almost perfectly into the sculpted hole on the tiller. The switch comes with a threaded neck and large nut and apparently there is a commercial standard for these switches that has been around for at least 15…
