Description of 🐟 Seachem Cupramine Copper-250ml

EFFECTIVE: Cupramine effectively eradicates Oodinium, Cryptocaryon, Amyloodinium, Ichthyophthirius, and other ectoparasites of both freshwater aquariums and saltwater fish. SUPERIOR: Cupramine is superior to copper sulfate and chloride, it is non-acidic, less toxic to fish, remains in solution, and does not contaminate the filter bed. TREATMENT: Cupramine effectively treats a variety of ectoparasites of both freshwater and marine fish. Some of the most common infections treatable with Cupramine include Ich (White Spot) and Velvet. BEFORE TREATING: Remove all invertebrates as they are extremely sensitive to copper and will not tolerate treatment with a copper-based medication. Do not use any other medications or any products which contain reducing agents (conditioners, ammonia, binders, etc.) while using Cupramine. AFTER TREATING: Cupramine can be removed using carbon or CupriSorb. Leave the copper-absorbing media in your tank for at least a week after the copper concentration has reached 0.

Not me anymore! :): Fish and aquatic animals

Used with the SeaChem copper test kit which is a must have. I've had ichthyophthyriasis in my saltwater farming system and after losing a few dozen fish I finally realized they were afflicted with it, which was the first time I've had saltwater systems in 20 years. I was lucky never to have them, but there are so many fish in this system it had to happen. Dosed no more than me for two weeks!

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Works wonders for getting rid of snails in an aquarium

I have not tried this product for ichthyophthyriasis but after reading reviews of how effective it was at treating snail infested aquariums decided me to try it. My freshwater aquarium was infested with nasty snails. After one dose the snails were gone! I hope this works for me too. I can't wait to try it out with new purchases from my little quarantine tank.

Pros
  • Long lasting finish
Cons
  • It's ok

I have to say it works! Cured the powdery brown clown smell and yellow smell in my 20 gallon QT, got a lot worse before it got better which is perfectly normal, let the cupramine do its job and it will destroy it in your fish and in your system if you are just a fish . I slowly increased the dose to twice the time stated on the bottle, copper is a poison and should be slowly injected into your QT/DT.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Minor issues

I use this product extensively in marine aquarium quarantines.

I use this product extensively in my marine aquarium quarantine system for all new fish. I haven't had to treat an active case of Ich yet, so I can't comment on how well this actually works, but it's a standard copper-based remedy. All of the fish I have treated with this product have been exceptionally healthy with no side effects from the treatment. I find that actively using it in quarantine is a surefire way to prevent an I-case on your main system.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • There are some nuances

Works great - be careful

People losing fish as a result are not dosing correctly. Just because you have a 120 gallon tank doesn't mean it actually has 120 gallons of water in it. Also be careful - this is measured in "drops" - it's not the most accurate way to measure, esp. if the product is in a plastic bottle from which a few drops often come out, or from a small trickle if you are trying to get just a drop. I use it in a 20 gallon tank with a sponge filter (pretreated). Although I only use my QT a few times a year…

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Not sure

I use it for my fish quarantine tank. Not a single fish comes into my DT without being treated with this drug and PraziPro. I choose 1/4 dose, every day or every other day depending on the fish. It's one of the few products known to kill cryptocaryon irritants (sometimes called "marine ichthyophthyriasis"). Other options include tank transfer, hyposaline, chloroquine phosphate or other copper based products. This copper based product is superior to others as it does not penetrate equipment and…

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

In my rainbow tank, the fish had a severe form of Ichthyophthyriasis. I survived the quarantine and ended up at DT. I treated two tanks at the same time, one with Hikari Ich-X (malachite green and formalin) and the other with just cupramine. The Ich-X tank was finally empty after about 6 days and daily treatments, the two lost fish and the tank turned blue-green. In another tank treated with cupramine there was no loss (and the hat tank has Amano, Otos and Kori shrimp). Started with the…
