Worth a wash! Looks great in my aquarium with plants.

Okay, now I LOVE this, but I don't like the initial rinse. After washing it well, the water in my aquarium did not become cloudy. I only noticed some haze after vacuuming the aquarium for the first time. Just change the filters a little more often for the first 5-6 weeks. As for rinsing, I tried a few different ways, but ended up doing it in small batches in a colander in the sink. I actively stirred the gravel during the process, which really helped. MAKE SURE you have something over the drain

Great product, best aquarium floor

First of all I would like to say that this product is excellent and does what it is supposed to do. Plus, you don't need to rinse off this product if you use it properly. I didn't know they needed instructions for everything. I started by taking the substrate into my drying tank and adding a thin layer in the front and a thicker layer in the back and then filling in the front with sand as I should because that is the soil for the plants. I then took my groundcover seeds and added them after…

Cloudy mess for a while.

The plants grew normally in it. I added Excel and fertilizer. I wanted to order a dark one, but accidentally chose a red pad. It looks great with my blue background and green plants. A black and dark substrate might be better, but this red is a blurry mess that needs addressing. I rinsed it in a bucket for twenty minutes and then spent an hour placing it in a colander and running water through it. Then I threw it in the aquarium and it was so cloudy I could only see 2 or 3 inches. After a few…

Great product after a BIG flush

Well, the first thing to know about this (or possibly any other) fluorite is that when the directions say 'flush' it doesn't mean just act fast is – under the faucet. Or even half an hour rinsing under running water. I spent about half an hour rinsing this in a large strainer over a bucket and I thought it was fine, but when I put it in the tank it left a red residue EVERYWHERE. The filter cleared it up in a day or two, but the red residue still remained on my plants, tank walls, etc., and…

Looks good but DIRTY

I've tried most Flourite varieties in several different configurations. I recently upgraded my 55 gallon tank and used 3 different colors of fluorite. I applied a base coat of Flourite Dark and then finished off with two shades of Flourite Black Sand and this Flourite Red. I think it's a really attractive and striking contrast between the color and the size of the granules. Flourite Red is a burgundy Tonkies. The size of the grains is not uniform, like sand; it is very irregular but visually…
