Kit should be replaced when the PTFE (cloth) appears warn, discolored or sealing isn't perfect.

Disappointing Quality of Sealing Product

This item is problematic for industrial and scientific usage. The cons of this product strongly outweigh the pros, with the need for constant replacements and inconsistent sealer quality. These issues have resulted in a loss of time and money for our company. It is unfortunate that this product falls short in meeting the high standards required in this industry.

The Good Perfect Sealer Kit

I like it. Seals very well. . I googled all about sealants and found out what they are good for. . This product is amazing. This is a must have for any household need. Make your own frosting pouches from flat food grade plastic bags or seal some extra wide honey or shampoo straws to save space in your luggage or purse. Make a cool help for kids to pour into glasses. Make your own popsicles. Ideal for everything. I love this seal. I bought another one for my family. I would buy this again.

Not compatible with Uline sealants

Edit: The seller contacted me and offered a full refund without returning the item. So even though it didn't match my seal, 5 stars for the customer service and their resolution. I found that for a 12" seal, Uline and Cutter seals are actually 12.5" long. Therefore, measure your existing heating elements/strips before purchasing as not all 12" seals are actually the same size. These spares run exactly 12 inches without a buffer.
