They last a very long time

I didn't think I could replace my previous MCO (Microwave Convection Oven) but I did. Sharp still makes a similar (if not identical) product that I bought 23 years ago. Some people think that the power of microwaves is small (930W), and that may be true. I mainly use combined microwave/convection and only convection modes. The dimensions and weight have stayed the same, and the weight saved suggests to me that the quality of the components hasn't gone down. The touch cooking menu is extensive…

Disappointment: small appliances

I have a Sharp convection microwave from the 1980s. My last Sharp was 9 years old and stopped heating so I ordered this model. After three ovens I gave up and asked for a refund. This oven is squarer than my previous one, so some of the pots I used to use in it no longer fit. The first two ovens made a loud bang in convection mode so they went back. The third oven was quiet, but a day later we couldn't open the door with the push of a button. We are saddened by the loss of quality of the Sharp…

I was really hoping for the best result!

Our original Sharp Convection Carousel (R-930AK, manufactured April 1999) was great. Excellent performance in both microwave and convection modes. We had no problems or complaints. It worked fine until April 2017 when convection mode stopped working. 18 years of uptime and service. Expecting the same quality and value, we ordered the current new version from Sharp, essentially the exact same oven (but with a newer, more austere keyboard), now model number SMC1585BB (manufactured March 2017)…
